Yuko stared around her darkened apartment. It was dead silent. The only sound was the sound of the ticking clock. "Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock." Yuko hummed to herself.
She sighed, being extremely tired. She decided to take a small nap. "It's not like I'll miss anything anyway." She told herself. Yuko hummed and changed into her gray night clothes. She turned off the lamp, leaving her in complete darkness. Yuko laid back on the bed, allowing herself to slip into a deep sleep.
Yuko found herself some were familiar. She sighed rubbing her eyes. It was the same old dream every time. Except this time she was here for answers. She walked down the corridor filled with endless doors until she stopped at the last door on the left side.
It was brown with a gold door nob. It was just like any old door. Yuko rubbed her eyes again and slipped through the door. She was met with a strange sight. A hill covered with snow with some sort of weird vortex or portal at the highest point. And something else...
"A black rabbit?" She said out loud to no one. "Could it mean something? Just to find a common black rabbit in all of this...?"
She picked up the rabbit and held it at arms length. That was a mistake. The rabbit seemed to growl. Yuko looked confused. "Can rabbits even-?" Yuko was cut off as the rabbit jumped onto Yuko's head, suddenly growing teeth far to big and sharp for a rabbit's.
"OW! Get off!" Yuko screeched as it began to sink it's teeth in her skull. She managed to fling it off her head into the snow, panting slightly. "That's it. I don't care if it's just a dream anymore. I'm waking up, and I'm fine without knowing what's behind all the doors." she told herself, trying to pinch her cheeks, which normally woke her up.
"What the hell...?" Said Yuko, when she discovered her head had been replaced with a frog's head. She sighed and decided to do along with this crazy dream. She got out of the door, and to her delight, the demonic rabbit didn't follow.
She felt her face. It hadn't turned back to normal. Yuko had a feeling it would be that way for a while. She walked to the right, so that she was at the last door on the right. It was a white door, with a silver knob. She opened it, silently hoping to find something nice.
She was half hoping to find nothing behind all of the doors, so she could get over this, and dream in peace knowing she found out what was behind her monthly dream. But no, the universe never was kind to her.
The door opened to reveal a strange old, bony woman. She looked quite intimidating. Yuko had to fight the urge to vomit when she saw her eyes. Ugly, bloodshot, and completely white, rimmed with puss.
The old woman was silent. So was Yuko. Soon, Yuko made a move to turn back to the door, and the old woman followed her. Soon, she found herself almost sprinting to avoid the woman.
Yuko, went up and down the corridor, fearfully. Things were flashing through her mind like, 'What happens if she catches me? Will she kill me? Will she eat me?'
The thought of fearing an old woman eating her brought a dry, humorless chuckle to her lips. Yuko kept running though, and stopped at the second to last door on the right.
She entered it panting with the old woman behind her. She continued running until she was stopped by a yellow wall. Suddenly a huge egg fell from the sky in front of it. 'This dream just gets weirder and weirder.' Yuko thought.
Suddenly, with a jolt of fear, she remembered the old woman behind her. In a panic, she reached up to touch her cheeks, and with huge relief, she realized they were human.
" I can get out of here!" She exclaimed happily pinching a cheek.
Yuko sat upright in her bed. She felt her cheeks. "Still normal." she sighed in relief.
Yuko got up and headed to the kitchen. "Goddamn it, I missed Mamoru's visit!" While Yuko sat frowning, she noticed her screen door had been broken, leaving glass every where.
"Someone broke in!" she exlaimed. Yuko studied the glass, and noticed a small piece of paper with words on it. It read:
'Dear Yuko, I set you some food in your fridge. I know you wouldn't take care of yourself, and get your own food, so I got you some ounce again. You really need to stop refusing to leave the apartment, I can't be there to give you food all the time. I would have given it to you on our visit, but you were asleep. Sorry about the screen door, I'll replace it.
Your Loving Big Brother,
Mamoru.
Yuko sighed happily, and got out the food he had sent her, chicken, and some turkey sandwiches, and ate happily.
