Melanie's POV
"Bye mom! I yell from the front door.
"Wait! Don't leave yet!" My mom yelled, running from the kitchen.
She looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"I can't believe my little baby is so grown up!" She instantly let tears fall down her wrinkled cheeks.
"Mom-" I started while laughing.
"Melanie, you're going off to college, I can't just not cry!" She said.
"But you promised you wouldn't cry!" I pleaded with her
"Yeah, well I'm a liar" she said with a smile tugging at her frowning lips.
"I'm going to miss you so much mom! I love you" I said to her, tears reaching the brim of my eyes. "I guess I'm a liar now too" I added. "I guess so! I'm going to miss you too, I love you! She responded. I glanced down at my gold watch that hung tightly on my wrist. "Oh crap, I'm going to be late!" I panicked.
"Okay, okay! I love you and call me when you land in Ottawa" she told me.
"I will" I yell as I rush out the door.
I briskly walk down the walkway pulling my two suitcases behind me. I reach my car and dig my hand into my purse that hangs off my shoulder. My hands skims the bottom of the purse in search for my car keys. Yes! I found them! I quickly unlock the car and set my bags in the back of my white SUV. I walk around the car to the drivers seat and hop in. I start the ignition and begin to back out of the driveway, I honk my horn twice and see my mom in the window, crying but still smiling. She waves like a goofball and I do the same! As I drive down the road, I feel tears begin to slowly fall from my green eyes. This is it. I'm finally off to college, my new life awaits me.
