The door flung open and Levor came in. ''Sorry that took so long.'' Another man walked in. It was the principal. ''Which one of you guys is Hikari again?'' He asked. Dan stood up, greeted the principal and walked out.
''What a splendid young man he is.'' The principal said after Dan left. ''So you must be Hikari yes? Good.'' The principal took a chair and sat in front of me. ''I've heard terrible things about your past experiences at middle school. I am here to offer you my help. I want you to have a great time here at our high school and forget about what happened in the past.''
''But what kind of help do you want to offer me?'' I asked.
''Here at Oakle, every student is special. Everyone has his specialities but also their flaws. We offer everything you need to exercise your interests. But that has nothing to do with you right now. I want to offer you my help. I will not allow anyone to hurt you, bully you or use your past experiences against you. I will use everything I can to make sure you will have a great time here.'' The door opened. Dan came back in the room. ''Principal, can I say one thing?''
''Why of course you can, young man.''
''I admit I heard everything you said just now. I heard Hikari had a rough time in middle school. I'm not sure what happened to him in the past, but I want to help too. I want to be someone who protects him.'' He said while he took a seat next to me.
''My that's very nice of you.'' The principal said. I felt kind of weird at that moment. The principal and Dan both wanted to help me through high school without getting bullied or being alone.''Well then. That's settled.'' The principal stood up. ''Dan, be a good friend for Hikari, yes? Good.'' He turned around and walked out of the room. Levor came from behind his desk and smiled. ''Well, well, well. I didn't know you had that big of a heart Dan.'' He said. Dan laughed.
''I knew from the moment I met Hikari that he didn't have that many friends. I feel like I have to be a good friend for him.'' Dan put his arm around me. ''Don't worry Hikari. No one will get near you this time.''
''You're a cool guy.'' I said.
''Well, seems you got yourself a new friend already.'' Levor said. ''Anyways, it's time we head home. I've be seeing you two tomorrow!''We went back outside and took our bicycles. There was a very awkward silence the majority of the trip back home. Right before Dan went the other way, I thanked him for being such a good friend even though it's the first day.
''Hey man don't worry. We're going to meet up again here tomorrow morning.''
''Alright! See ya tomorrow!'' I waved and went home.As mom already said tomorrow, she wasn't home for dinner. I threw my bag on the couch, took my prepared dinner out of the fridge. ''Not this stuff again...'' I threw it away and called for pizza. I sat down on the couch and checked my phone. A missed call and new message from an unknown number. The missed call was from mom. I listened to the voicemail.
''Hey sweetie. I'll be home around 9 o'clock. Remember that dinner is in the fridge. If you don't like it, get a pizza instead.''
I checked the new message. It was from Dan. How did he get my number? Well doesn't matter. The message was just a reminder for tomorrow morning. Ding Dong. Pizza is here. I paid the courier, placed my butt back in the couch, turned on the television and started eating. I thought about what happened today. How did the principal know about my past? And why was Dan so friendly from the start? He didn't even know me that well but he promised to keep me save during school. I wondered what Matthew and Kayira were going to say.I finished my pizza and went upstairs. I remembered that strange question about what interests I gave up on before heading to Oakle. That immediately drew my attention to the box underneath my bed that contained all my stories I wrote back then. I pulled the box from under the bed and opened it. I found drawings and notes and the notebook. I opened the notebook and started reading about the wonderful world I created.
When I got to the last page, something was odd about it. This is not what I wrote down.
