It was a little after six when I dropped Andrea off at home. I headed back to work. I finally got the 2002 dodge ram done and I was ordering some parts when someone cleared their throat.

"Ah Nick I need to talk to you." Paul said

"Okay one minute let me finish up." I said while logging of the computer.

"Nick, I'm so sorry but I have to let you go. It's nothing personal it's just business is slow." He said while scratching the back of his neck. I sighed

"I understand. Thanks Paul." I said with a halfhearted smile. I packed up some of my stuff I had laying on the desk and headed off to my car. I got in and shut the door. I turned on the radio and drove home. I turned off the car and just sat.

"God Dammit!" I yelled while hitting the steering wheel. In the process the horn went off and turned on some lights in the apartment complex. I grumbled to myself and started to climb the stairs to home. I opened the apartment door to Andrea yelling.

"Nick? Is that you?"

"Yea I'm home." I said while taking off my shoes.

"I thought you weren't gonna be home until 9" She said while coming out of her room.

"Things change Andrea." I said with a sigh. Andrea kept moving and looked uneasy.

"Andrea. Get rid of your friend." I said while going to my room and slamming the door shut.

"Can't he stay for a little bit?" She asked. I open my door and rush into her room to see a high school boy with short black hair and piercing all along his ears.

"Get the hell out of my house." I said while pointing to the door.

"Woah just calm down" He said while getting off of the bed

"Don't tell me to calm down. You better be out of here when I count to five or you're going to regret it." I said while starting to count

'1."

"Nick what the hell? Leave him alone" Andrea yelled.

"2"

I wonder where my baseball bat is.

"3"

"Ahh I should go." He said while getting his things.

"4"

Ahh. There's my bat.

"5. Time's up" I said while coming back to Andrea standing by an open door.

"Great you just ruined my social life." She said, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Those are the people you hangout with? He was wearing more makeup than you! What happened to Ashley?" I yelled.

"It's none of your goddamn business." She yelled before stomping off to her room.

"Way to be mature Stompy." I yelled

"My name isn't Stompy. She yelled back.

I sighed. The one good thing about the apartment is they had a small deck. I opened the sliding door and sat on one of the fold out chairs. Could my life get any worse? Rent is due soon, good thing I have some money saved up. Now I need to find a job. I would have to use my teaching degree. I have to get enough income for two people, I can't just screw around anymore. I sighed and sat outside for a couple minutes longer. I went inside and decided to make french toast, Andrea's favorite food. When I was done I headed into her room with a plate.

"What do you want?" she said into her pillow.

" I come in peace." I said while pushing the plate towards her.

She looks down at the plate and then towards me.

"This doesn't make up for what you did." She said while eating the french toast.

"I know, but Andrea we have to make some ground rules. Rule numero uno, no boys over when I'm not here. Two, no illegal activity, drugs or sex. Three, you can't touch my poptarts." I said with a smile. She stops eating.

"You have poptarts and didn't tell me?" She gasped and then laughed.

"Fine. Just be a little easier on me okay, It hasn't be the best year of my life." She said.

"I know. Its been tough. Oh I also lost my job today so... I'm going to have to be a teacher or something. Any job openings at your school?" I asked hopefully.

"No way in hell are you working at my school." She said with a smile.

"I hope we're on sort of good terms.." I said while dragging off.

"Weeeell. I'm still on the don't like you side. I can't just all of a sudden like you, it would ruin my rep." She said while stuffing her face full of french toast.

"What rep? The one I already ruined" I said with a chuckle.

"Hey now! I'm gonna have to score some major points with a different crowd to rebound from that one." She said while pointing her fork in my direction.

"Yea yea. Goodnight. Love you Blah Blah. I'm going to find a job." I said before walking out of the room. I went on my laptop and searched for some teaching jobs available. It was the middle of the school year so I'm not going to have any luck. I decided to call Andrea's school district and apply for a sub. teacher.

"McKinley High School, Can I help you?" answered a lady.

"Hi I'm Nick Spear. I would like to talk to Mr. Hackett about applying to be a substitute teacher."

"I'll connect you, just one minute."

There was a period of silence before the line crackled to life.

"Michael Hackett. What can I do for you?"

"Ah I'm Nick Spear and I was wonder if I could apply to be a sub for the school district?" I clear my throat and continue on. "I have a bachelor's degree in science education from the University of Minnesota. If it would be possible I would like to become a science teacher at some point."

"Well you sound like you have the requirements, you're in luck, the Physical Science teacher is going to have a baby and will be on maternity leave until the end of the school year."

After talking to the principal for a while he decided that I would be the science teacher. I was excited to finally use my degree for something. I worked at Paul's because I loved to work on cars and it always helped with the stress. Now I would have to learn new faces and grade homework everyday. I went to bed wondering how I was going to tell Andrea.

Q/A:

Thats Andrea up there. Shes so stunning. Sorry for not updating for so long. School has taken over my life and I was gone all summer. I hope everyone's summer was amazing. I know mine was.

xoxo
