"Mom...MOM NO!" I awoke screaming. 4680 days it's been since I last saw my mom, 4680 days. I was just 5 years old then, it seemed like a lifetime away now. The year was 4039. 20 years after the Great War of the world. Everything was demolished, diseases wiped out most of the population leaving only a few behind. The disease that we thought was just a mutated influenza virus was actually a new unknown disease thought to be a result of the nuclear weapons used during the war. This disease know as 40067 or celldust, killed the human but kept something alive so they could still move about and infect others. This makes it pretty dangerous for the few of us left. The infected are called dusters, because when killed they disappear into thin air and float away like dust. "Milo you ok, I heard screaming?!" John asked. John was, I guess you could say, a father figure?John was a 6'6 tall man with greying hair and a tough guy persona. He's the one who taught me all of my combat skills. "I, uh, yeah I'm fine just more night terrors", I replied. He left pretty much right away knowing I wasn't in any danger, he's not much of the social type, therefore no cuddles or soothing talks just all hard faces and knife throwing. I was almost 18 anyway I could look after myself better now than ever. Getting ready is hard, especially on a Monday morning. Throw your hands in the air if you've ever had to get out of a nice, cosy, warm bed and just silently prayed that you were unable to move! No? Ok. I walked over to my dusty ass blinds and opened them up just enough to peak through. Yep as usual Big Js down there waiting for me to start my lessons, fun. Training or "lessons" is something every child, man and women go through to help in the battle of survival. There's rank jeden, the first rank that's pretty similar to a beginners class. Rank dwa, the second rank and so on until you graduate at rank 9 or rank dziewięć. Classes are mostly taught by the leader of the zebranie. A zebranie is the group of humans you run with. My zebranie is zebŁ, and the leader of our zeb just happens to be John. When my mother died John was the only one without a child and he pitied my fragile state so he decided to take me in. One rule in this new world is that you never leave behind a human. Well it's time to train I eventually have to graduate, right?
