Awakening at midmorning to an unexpected heatwave making my room feel like a sauna I was dripping with small beads of sweat. The dream my work alarm had woken me from was one I wasn't thrilled to be having and although my mind said "no way." My body had seemed to love every second of the sequence. Brian was frustrating and annoyed the crap out of me yet it seemed subconsciously I was horny for him.
Walking into the kitchen and crouching to pet Biscuit I couldn't shake the dream replay as it was all still fresh in my mind. The young man I'd once knew took me in his arms but when we let go he looked as he does now. The night smelled of fresh cut grass and rain in the air as I relived that night when I'd been fighting with my mom and ran to Brian who'd taken me somewhere safe to hide from my parents. That night caused a shudder to run all over my body. I loved Brian once, loved him enough to give him my virginity that night. So why could I not even like him now? That's right because he's jaded, tainted; the fame has changed him. I mean Q was always my favourite joker but that was because he's funny, I always felt he was a bit strange and had never thought of him sexually. But apparently I'd had a change of heart, knowing Brian Quinn was my loveable highschool sweetheart Brian made me thirst for that love we had again, even though I'd put him to the back of my mind and tried to move on.
Flopping myself down on the sofa Biscuit jumped up and burrowed into my chest, the sound of his purring relaxed me as I tried to think straight and rid my brain of Brian Quinn for a while although I knew I was expecting a parcel from him anytime now as I'd promised to meet with him again tonight.
The time flew by and nothing had arrived, I began to fret. Had Q forgotten about me or simply changed his mind. Well you were rough on him yesterday Allie. I taunted myself. If he'd decided against seeing me again I wouldn't blame him. I treated him badly and taken out my perpetual horrible mood out on him. But he'd said I'll receive a card this morning then a package before noon. What about Stefan the driver with resting bitch face? Wasn't he coming to pick me up again. I was beginning to stress myself out. Stop! Breathe. Go to fucking work Allie. Forget Brian Quinn.
Slowly I walked to walk as I heard the sounds of cars roaring around the busy streets, people shouting at one another and general noise coming from apartments and shops I passed. The ruckus of the bust New York streets kept my mind away from other thoughts and it truly made me smile.
Arriving at work I saw my boss outside of the diner, cigarette lit up and brow furrowed. I sensed something wasn't right and held my breath in as I neared him.
"Allira!" He snapped as he noticed me.
Pausing I pivoted ans smiled.
"Yes." I answered with a sweet mix of sweetness and sarcasm.
"Who's this jag off in the limo asking about you at my diner, acting like he owns the fucking place?" He growled nodding a bit down the street.
Turning my gaze down the street I noticed the limousine and Stefan outside the car leaning with his elbows on the roof as he shot the worst death stare toward my owner under his darkened glasses.
"That's my buddy Stefan..." I began fully willing to explain before I was rudely interurupted.
"Listen Allie, I gave you this job because you got a little something I needed... that body girl. But since you began working here you're nothing but trouble. You're always late, rude to customers and you can't clean or serve for shit. So what I'm saying is if you want to keep this job I need... no I want you to show me how much you want to keep this if you understand me... also the stiff in the suit with the car gave me this envelope for you." He stated thrusting the envelope at me.
Opening the envelope there was a card inside. I expected a huge message but there was one word and only one word.
QUIT.
