Reflection - Book 1 of the Leila Series

Chapter 4

"Wait, wait, wait, hold on a second here. You want me to what now?!"

Leila, Myra, Shayne and Bethany are all sitting in a circle in the mall's library. They're going through the basics of the revenge plan on Jovan. Leila has been so excited about all that was going on around her, she didn't realise Reflection had walked away, glad to have her back in a good mood.

"All you need to do is play along with Jovan. As simple as that. When we finally get a day where we can put everything together, you'll have the strongest impact on him. Plus, you get to learn more about his weaknesses and all his bad habits to use against him," Leila explains to Bethany. "I know it's hard and it's pretty unfair but you're the closest girl to Jovan. If I did it, he'd suspect something. If we find someone else, then you don't have to it." Bethany stays silent for awhile. Then she perks up and says, "I know! I took a screenshot of Jovan's contacts list when I stole his phone the other day. I think he was also pretty close to a few other girls. YUCK. If we find one or two of these girls, we can tell them the truth about him and recruit them too! They'd surely help us unless they're complete bitches." "Okay, give me their number, " Leila says, taking out her handphone.

"Looks like we've got more people to help us!" Shayne suddenly says and looks to his right, where the stairs of the library is. Two boys who look about Shayne's age approach him and pat him on the back. Shayne points to the boy in a blue shirt and says,"Guys- er I mean girls, this is Pete." Shayne points at the other boy in a grey sleeveless shirt and says, "And this is Nate. They both hate Jovan and want to help us." Everyone moves back and makes some space in the circle for Pete and Nate to sit down. Leila, Myra and Bethany introduce themselves to the boys and go through the plan again. Leila notices  that Myra keeps glancing at Pete and he keeps glancing at her. Leila chuckles and Myra gives her a death stare. 

As Shayne is telling Pete and Nate their part in the plan, Leila dails a number that Bethany gave her and calls it. The name on the screenshot read Diana. In two rings, the call is answered. "Hello?" Diana says. Leila gets up and walks away from the group and says, "Hi. Is this Diana?" "Um, yes. Why?" Diana says. "Do you happen to know Jovan Rey?" Leila asks. Thankfully, Diana says yes and what's even better, she asks Leila why she's asking about Jovan. Leila explains to Diana slowly how much of a jerk Jovan is and when she's finished, she hears some sighing from Diana. "Wow. I didn't know Jovan was that kind of guy. He's always been so nice to me. I feel played! Wait, why are you telling me this?" Diana asks. "I'm telling you this because I hate someone breaking another person's heart and Jovan has already done it to two people. I'm plotting a revenge plan on him and I thought you might want to help me," Leila replies. Diana stays silent for a while and finally says, "Okay. I'll help you. You sound like a person who knows her shit. So, you said you have quite a number of people helping you, who else was played by Jovan?" "Me and a really sweet girl named Bethany," Leila answers. "Our whole team is here at the mall's library. If you're close by, you can come and meet us. We're on the forth floor. Just look for a bunch of teenagers sitting in a circle." "I live really close to the mall actually! I'll come by now! If I can't find you, I'll just give you a call! Can't wait to meet you!" Diana says. 

Leila says goodbye to Diana and ends the call. When she turns around to go back and sit with the team, she notices two new people have joined. "Hello. Who are you?" Leila asks the two new girls. The girl with blue spectacles on replies, "I'm Lilly! I'm Myra's friend and I heard about your evil plan and decided to help!" The other girl with her hair tied in a ponytail says, "I'm Sarah. I'm also Myra's friend, by the way. I like how your crew is growing!" Leila laughs and says, "Haha, it's nice to have more people helping! Thank you for coming! Maybe we'll call this a crew instead of a team, hm?" Everyone nods their heads in agreement and Leila sits back down and tells them about Diana. 

Thirty minutes later, Diana joins the crew. Everyone has a part to play in the revenge plan and they seem to like it. Of course, Leila is the brains behind all of this so they listen to her most of the time. After a while, everyone starts to talk about something else besides the plan and they began to treat each other like close friends. At that moment, Leila forgot about all her misery and bad luck and enjoyed herself. She never felt so happy since her parents' disappearance and Shayne seemed to notice her lightened spirit. Everyone seemed to notice her lightened spirit. Suddenly, everyone is quiet and looks at Leila. "What? Why is everyone staring at me? Oh no! Do I have spinach stuck in my teeth?" Leila says and teasingly covers her mouth. Everyone laughs and Myra puts an arm around her. "You've never looked this happy before. All the time you were always looking very gloomy. It's just amazing how you can get a group of strangers to become the bestest of friends in one day. I mean, nine people?! Thats incredible! We are all just appreciating you," Myra tells Leila. Leila blushes and blurts out a squeaky "Aww thanks guys!" that makes everyone laugh even louder. Leila hadn't thought about how this plan could make a crew of great people best friends. What's more important is that she suddenly realised she didn't need Reflection at all now. But then again, she did see Reflection leaning in a corner of the stairs, smiling at her.

This plan is going to work, Leila thought.
