"What do you want with him?" I demanded through gritted teeth.
"His life," he replied sinisterly.
"Well you're not going to get it."
With those words said, I was racing out of the forest. You know how in those horror movies the chick always trips? Yeah, well that just happened to me. Damn vine.
"You can run, Callidora, but you can't hide," his voice called maniacally throughout the trees.
I got back to my feet as fast as possible and ran all the way to the house. It wasn't as long a run, considering I'm a vampire. However, it was longer than I would have liked since he wanted Harry and I knew Harry was home.
Once I got inside I zoomed up the stairs and through the hallway to his door. Just as I was about to knock, he opened the door. I didn't care about our falling out anymore. Instead I leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly, never wanting to let go.
"Callie? What happened?" he asked seeming concerned.
I guess he didn't care about the hurtful events on his behalf any longer either.
"Close the door," was my response.
He did as I said and I pressed him against it, kissing him roughly. At first he seemed stunned, so I accepted the advantage of surprise. But, when he didn't reciprocate the kiss, I got worried. Pulling away with open eyes I noticed he seemed angry. He must be thinking about that day again.
"Harry, I-" I started to say but was cut off.
"Don't. I'm tired of excuses."
"But I-"
"Why are you here?" he demanded.
"B-beacause... I can't go on like this, having you being mad with me. I'm sorry, Harry... I'm sorry..."
The tears I'd been holding back since I went to the rock finally released from my eyes and slipped down my cheeks. Harry didn't come to my rescue and comfort me like usual. I swear, it felt like being stabbed in the chest repeatedly.
"So, you thought that coming in here and kissing me would fix everything? Well, here's a news flash: it doesn't."
"I-"
"Do you even know what that did to me? How much that hurt? I've been here for you every single day of your life and the gratitude I got was that?"
"Harry, I'm sorry. I don't know what else I can say!" I begged, tears rapidly falling from my eyes.
"You could say thank you. You could say that you love me. There's a bunch of things that you could say."
"But I-"
"I know, you don't love me. I g-"
"Harry, stop it! I do... I love you, Harry."
The last few words were more so choked out over my tears. My knees felt weak as I let my body fall to them. Now sitting on the floor at Harry's feet, I brought my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms round them.
The whole span of time I'd been crying Harry just stood there. He did nothing, said nothing, didn't even move a muscle. It was hurting me immensely. But maybe that's what he wanted; maybe he wanted me to feel the pain he'd felt.
"Harry, I'm sorry," I whispered.
"You've never said it before," he spoke softly.
I looked up at him with tear-stained confused eyes.
"You've never said that you love me," he clarified.
His back slid down the door behind him until he was sat on the floor. Hesitantly, I crawled onto his lap and stared into his eyes.
