Today was the day. The day that I finally get the answers to these questions in my head, urging to be answered. I was finally facing my fears by heading down to my hometown to face many familiar faces. Mainly, one familiar face, Max. We were the bestest friends until-
*Ring, ring.*
The sound of my phone suddenly disrupts my thoughts. I look down at it to see who's calling me.
Max
Just as I look up from my phone, a truck appears right in front of me. I quickly swerve, trying to get back on the right lane, but it was too late. The truck collided with the left side of my car, which so happens to be the side I was in. My body rapidly jerked as my car took the blow from the truck.
I couldn't feel anything. Everything became a blur. My head was pounding, and my ears were ringing. That's all I felt. Several minutes had passed, and I tried to be strong to not let the darkness take over me. I knew, I had to be strong for those who still cared about me.
But, I had to give up at some point. All at once, I felt everything. I was in pain, and in the back of my head, I knew that. I was both physically and emotionally hurt. I closed my eyes, ready to let the darkness take over me. Then unexpectedly, I hear a sweet familiar voice that I'd been dying to hear, Max.
"JULIET!" Max yells.
I silence the loud sirens ringing from the background and focus on his voice.
"Julie! Please, wake up. Wake up!" He shouts.
Suddenly, I feel strong arms under my back and legs as I am being lifted off my seat.
"Someone, help me! Please!" Max yells once again. I hear the pain in his voice. I knew I had to be strong for him now. I took every strength in my body I could find and open my eyes.
"Max," I whisper. He swiftly averts his eyes to my own. I smile, looking deep into his sparkling hazel eyes.
"I miss you," I whisper once again, but this time, I finally let the darkness take over me.
...Not before I hear his faint voice whisper in my ear, "I'm sorry, Juliet."
