"louis is wonderin' why harry look so diffe-. so d-diff-. harry do not look like harry. look like jerry!"

the hybrid's voice rang repeatedly in harry's ear; obnoxious and noisily as the two made their way down the busy, crowded street. perhaps his heart did begin to this rapidly in his chest, but it was only because it was a saturday afternoon - which equalled overly-ecstatic teenage girls, as well as harry being chucked into a situation he needed not to be.

he hadn't woken up on his own will that morning, harry hadn't. he was awakened to the jolly sound of louis' humming as he played with one of the man's niece's dolls that she'd left from her last visit. (though, he had to take them back when louis began to nibble on the object's head with his sharpened teeth.)

the boy had begun to the threaten tears, though they were immediately halted when harry quickly revealed that they'd be going out to search for his owner after he'd gotten a proper shower. (to which, louis had gone - "louis told harry that harry needed wash!") after that, he'd been extremely cooperative; even if he had insisted on wearing a bathing-suit instead of actual clothes.

and so, the two of them walked down evermond street - harry in sunglasses that practically enveloped his entire face, and louis in a light-blue one-piece, along with a fuzzy, half-cut, pink and white jacket that he apparently loves lotly and thinks is da prettiest thingy ever wever.

(he looks like a fucking barbie doll.)

they'd gotten several looks; from louis' oddity, or the fact that harry looked somewhat familiar, though he didn't hope for the latter. the duo had been walking for quite some time. harry would occasionally stop by a house, or complex, questioning whether if it was louis' home. he'd always receive a firm no, not here each time.

(maybe harry was growing to be irritated. it was hard not to - considering that he'd been carrying louis on either hip since their last four stops, and the hybrid seemed to become heavier with each step. or, perhaps because they were getting absolutely nowhere.)

ignoring the hybrid's observation, harry questions, "do you know what kind of neighbourhood you lived in, louis?"

louis thought for a moment. he pulled one hand back from around the man's neck to scratch at his thigh - ears twitching as he did so.

"t-there was cars," louis answers, "and also, lots of trees. and birdies, too!"

"congratulations - you just described every place in the country of england."

the boy frowns. "louis d-did not! i says my home, not eggland!"

for a moment, harry wonders if he should waste any of his time attempting to correct him. but, he just shakes his head, continuing to walk down the street as the hybrid's trainers kicked at his thighs with each step.

another thing was - harry wasn't even supposed to be out right then. he'd been scheduled to do an interview with some prestigious magazine about two hours from then, and had already needed to begin to prepare himself and set out. but, instead, he was trying to get rid of poulston's property - and honestly. he wouldn't have taken the kid in if he had known he'd stick around.

he's just about to speak again when he feels a sharp jab to his side. in his reflexes, harry instantaneously dropped the boy to groan out in pain (because god - it went directly into his lung) and, without surprise, in no time, louis was gone.

he really hadn't expected someone with such short legs to be as fast as louis was. but, by the time he'd properly collected himself, the boy was already halfway down the street; just a pink, white, and blue blur at this point. harry swore roughly underneath his breath.
