Prologue

<Maddy's POV>

*Flashback*

I was running, fear pumping through my veins. Howls, growls, snarls, screams, i could hear the cries behind me.

But mum told me to run. Run as far as i could away from there, away from her and dad and my older brother Sebastian.

It was hard but that's what she told me to do.

A wolf, searching for a kill. Giant and as grey as the smoke from a fire.

As I glance behind me, I see what remains of my loved ones being torn to pieces by his pack. 

He looks straight at me, to where I am hiding. He knows i am there...

I get up and run, I wish I could shift but I am only 15. 

Help! It's useless, all that can be heard is the shrieks of terror from my family.

The grey wolf is the largest, definitely the alpha.

I am running again, but I hear the screaming and growling stop...

So I run back to the pack house and am shocked to find blood everywhere

I scream at the sight of my parents bodies next to each other. Lifeless, I know they are dead. Sobbing I search desperately for my brother, but but he is nowhere to be found, so I assume he is dead. I turn and run with tears streaming down my face. 

Still running I see something out of the corner of my eye.

A black, tan and what I assume is the alpha wolf staring back at me, I know I am in another pack territory! 

My speed increases and I almost trip over a fallen tree, but nothing can stop me.

I turn around to see that the wolves have not moved, thank gosh!

I am exhausted as i have been for hours,

I see a town up ahead and go into the hotel that is there I ask for a room and pay the lady money that my parents gave me before they died.

She leads me to a small room, i say thank you and she leaves...

I sit on the bed and burst into tears. Alone with no one in the world to love.

I sob for hours and then realise it's 12 in the morning.

So I go under the sheets and fall into a deep sleep...

*End of Flash back*
