Mace's Point of View.
It was another day on the Harrapa Hill, where students learn assassination. Pretty weird right? I woke up early as expected.
"Darling, aren't you a little early?" My Mom asked.
"Yeah, but I don't have anything to do here so might as well get to school early" I said, wearing my favorite converse shoes.
"Ok then, Good Luck! And don't forget your goal honey, Section A after first quarter."
"I know mom! Thank you! I love you!" I ran outside and got on a bus.
After going to Class E, my parents never looked down on me, rather, they cheered me up and told me that everything is going to be fine. Cool parents? Yeah, I know. It was a little dark since it's still 4 in the morning. 5 in the morning I was in the classroom. No one's there except me. Do you sometimes feel the waves coming through your ear when it is too quiet? That's what I'm experiencing right now and I kind of scared. Then I heard someone bang the door.
"OHMYGOD!"
"Oh, sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, Mace." It was Joseph all along. Recently, he's been very kind to me. I'm getting used to his dark, puberty-like, voice, which is actually very cute. He placed his bag onto his seat and sat next to me.
"So, why so early?" He asked, he's very cute when staring at something.
"I don't know, I actually beat your record for being the most early person in school." He giggles and asked me a weird question
"Did you ever fell in love with someone?"
Moments of silence. And everything went serious.
"Yeah, actually, he's the first, and I hope the last."
"Why? You should be one of my bitter taste buds. You're too negative about being in love." He said
"I'm not too negative, he's one of the boys who used girls for fun. I thought when she actually confesses to me, it's not fiction but truth. But, I heard he's just playing one of his squad's dare."
"Well, I'm not like them." He said. Whoa. What does that suppose to mean?
"Do you have any significant proof, Mr. Joseph-Nice-Guy-To-Girls?"
"Yes Ms. Bitter-Taste-Buds, I got my first girlfriend last year. I loved her so much. But she's the one who gave up on our relationship. So, is that a possible proof?"
"I wish there were more boys like you."
"I wish there were less girls like you."
I punched him in his shoulder
"OH REALLY? I gave you a compliment mister."
"I'm sorry! It was a joke!" He said with a lot of laughing.
"Really funny Joey. By the way, where's Zach" there he goes again that stare.
"I went to his house and he said he'll be catching up."
A few hours after our chit chat, the room was full, our first subject is a Physical Education in general, but actually assassination. Sir Simon entered the class with a new teacher. He's chubby and smiling, but he has this different aura.
"Class, because of what happened yesterday, we want our students to learn assassination better and deeper that's why Sir Edgar, a former Navy, will be your new PE teacher."
Murmurs filled the classroom. PE class is actually fun with Sir Simon.
"I wish he's not strict" Kaitlyn whispered.
Sir Simon bid goodbye and went out of the classroom. Now the room is in tensed with a dark aura. He slammed his hand into the table and shouted.
"MY NUMBER ONE RULE, DO NOT FOLLOW ME AND YOU WILL DIE. YOU'RE EXPECTING ME TO BE AS JOLLY AND FUN TEACHER JUST LIKE YOUR GOOD-FOR-NOTHING SIMON?"
Then Justin suddenly interrupts the new teacher.
"Don't you dare talk badly about Sir Simon." Everyone was staring at Sir Edgar fiercely
"WHAT'S YOUR NAME KIDDO? YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T HURT ME I'M YOUR TEACHER IT'S AGAINST THE RULES"
"BUT I CAN HURT YOU, VERBALLY. THE NAME'S JUSTIN"
"F*CK YOU"
"Thank you, Sir." He answered. He's not scared at all. That's Justin. Nothing scares him. That's what I liked about him. I secretly have a crush on him. He's brave and smart. The only reason why he's in Class E because his father, the Principal of the school, wanted to.
"I WANT EVERYONE OUTSIDE IN 1 MINUTE. THOSE WHO DO NOT FOLLOW, YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN GO GO GO!" He signaled us to get out of the room. Everyone hurried. It's like a stampede. But Tamara, one of our classmates was not in the line after a minute.
Sir Edgar went into Tamara's Line.
"What did I just said?"
"S..s...sir?"
"HOW MAMY MINUTES?"
"On-" she was about to answer when he smashed her face.
"TAMARA!"
"NOBODY WILL HELP HER. WEAKLINGS SHOULD STAY BELOW. WHOEVER HELPS HER WILL GET A SMASH IN THEIR FACES."
Nobody helped her. Everyone was scared, except for Justin. My legs were shaking and I was crying. I'm forcing myself not to, but I can't. We can only hear Tamara's sniff and cries.
"LETS START. SEE THOSE TARGETS, I WANT EVERYONE TO THROW REAL KNIVES AND SHOT THE TARGET 50 METERS AWAY. STUDENTS WHO DID NOT HIT THREE KNIVES TO THE TARGET WILL EARN A PUNISHMENT. MORE THAN STAYING BELOW." He shouted. He gave us three knives and we should at least hit one. Everyone was given a target.
I held one of the knives and my hands are shaking. I can't do this. Then someone grabbed my hand.
"Everything's going to be fine." It was Joseph smiles at me.
"OH, I forgot, the transfer student is excused in this training. According to your rule book. Transfers should be given 15 days to catch up and be excused to any activities the teacher will conduct."
Kaitlyn raised her hand and sat beside Sir Edgar, I can see her nervous and scared.
"ITS YOUR LUCKY DAY KAITLYN. NOW EVERYONE SHOOT."
Everyone starts throwing their knives. Sir Edgar started teaching Kaitlyn one-on-one. I ready my hand and aim for the target. My hands are still shaking.
Threw the knife. Missed. I started crying, but forcing myself not to
"Mace, mace, it's ok. Try another one." Joseph hugged me. He was trying to calm me down but I can't. I'm in tense. I saw his target and it's a perfect three knives. I saw the others and they have at least one knife attached to the target.
I tried it again. Carrying all the nervousness, it missed. My chest started to contract. My heart started to beat fast.
I held the last knife. Threw it with all my might
And missed.
