Jade's POV
"Hey Doll Face!"
"You gonna take your shirt off for us!?"
"Come here, kitty!"
These were all the comments that I got when I walked in the jail. The wretched men were getting on my damn nerves! I pitied my father for having to be held here for months. And as much as I didn't want to be in this cruel place, I had this one chance to see my father. "Right this way, Miss Arlington.", an officer gestured to me to a door. I breathed in a sigh of relief, now that I was away from those sick bastards. The room that I went in wasn't any better. The atmosphere felt so lifeless and cold, the walls were painted a dreadful gray, and my father was behind a glass, avoiding my gaze. I felt my heart break at the sight of him. His face was somewhat bruised, causing my temper to boil and he seemed so scared. I silently walked over to the glass. My heels clicking were the only sounds that filled the room, until I made it to the chair for me. I sat down, biting my bottom lip, as I waited for my father to look up at me. As he did, I noticed his black eye that made me bite my bottom lip harder, making me draw blood. I quickly grabbed the black phone beside me, as my father grabbed his. My hands trembled as I raised the phone to my ear. My father faintly smiled as he looked at me. "Hey pumpkin.", he quietly said. I shook my head a little. "I'm a little too old for that nickname.", I chuckled. It had been so many months since I heard my father's gentle voice and it seemed so strange right now. "You're right. You've grown up to be a very pretty lady. You look so much like your mother.", he said, his head resting on the palm of his hand. I smiled at him, but it didn't help the situation right now. "I've heard about the jury's decision.", I quietly said, tears beginning to form in my eyes. My father shook his head in shame, knowing all too well about what I was talking about. "Jade," he started, but I interrupted him. "A life sentence in Alcatraz! Just for robbing a bank!?", I cried, my eyes blinded by my tears. "Jade!", my father snapped. I jumped a little and immediatedly wiped my tears away. It surprised me, for he never raised his voice, especially to me. My father sighed and rubbed his forehead with one hand, while the other held the phone to his ear. "I'm sorry, Jade. I didn't mean to snap at you.", he said, a bit of guilt in his voice. I simply nodded my head. "I know, our situation must be very hard on you.", I replied back. He simply nodded and his lips trembled a bit. "That bank robbery wasn't the only crime I've done, Jade. You know that. And you know that I'm in a gang. I never wanted to be a bad guy, pumpkin. I did it for us. So we could have food, a home, anything that we needed to survive. The depression hit us so hard and there wasn't any jobs for me. I had to turn to other ways to get a couple of bucks.", he said. "Now look where it landed you father.", I snapped. He shook his head a little and his hand that held the phone trembled. "Yeah, Jade. I know that this will be hard for you, but Jade listen to me. You're going to be fine. There is enough money for you in my safe at home to help you live your life. Please,", he stopped, as he collected himself. He hung his head in shame, his hand gripped the phone so hard that his knuckles began to turn pure white, and I saw tears fall from his face to the white desk on his side. He looked up at me again and my heart was beginning to shatter piece by piece at how scared and shameful he looked. "Please be safe, pumpkin. Don't let this stop you in any way.", he begged. I deeply sighed and placed my hand against the glass. He did the same thing and placed his hand against the glass. If it hadn't been for the glass, I would be feeling father's warm, gentle hand. I would hug him and tell him that nothing would tear us apart. But the stupid glass created a barrier. Oh, how badly I wanted to break the glass! My brown eyes met my father's heterochromia iridum eyes(right eye is blue and left eye is green), as I looked at him with grief. "I will father. I'll stay safe for you.", I whispered sadly. "Thank you, Jade.", he whispered back to me. Suddenly the door on my side of the room opened. I turned around from my father and gazed at the middle-age officer standing in the doorway. "Visiting hours are up, Miss Arlington. Let's go.", he ordered. I looked at my father again and he nodded at me to go. "I love you.", I whispered at him, as I got out from my chair. "I love you too, pumpkin.", he said quietly. I walked out quickly, before I could have another emotional breakdown in front of my father again.
Albert's POV
"Let's go, inmate. Time for you to go to San Francisco.", an officer grabbed me and shoved me out. This was the same guy who beat me. "I will say....you're daughter is really good-looking. I just wished she wasn't an emotional bitch.", he snorted. That's when I lost it. Using my hands, I began to choke him. Not for my torture, but for him disrespecting my daughter. Before my homicide plan could work, other guards began to pull me off. "That's it! Transfer him now!", the officer yelled, as he tried to catch his breath. I looked at his badge. Officer Ferguson. I'll get that son of a bitch back.
