***Above is a picture of the actress I see for Esmae. This is just who I see, keep imagining whoever you like! I hope you guys enjoy this long awaited update. Enjoy!***
My body feels as if it is on fire. I feel a stinging sensation racing through my veins, rushing to the very tips of my fingers. The hair on my arms rise, as the heat seeps out through my pores.
"Roman," I say with my eyes squeezed shut, "What the hell is happening to me?" My head flails towards the seat as I struggle to contain the jerky movement of my body.
"You're going through your transformation," he says through a strained voice. "I need you to concentrate on containing your energy."
I let out a piercing scream as I sit back up and then hunch over, clutching my stomach. "How the hell am I supposed to do that?" I say from between my knees, "It feels like my insides are burning."
Jemma leans her head down to my level, resting her hands on either side of my head. "Breathe, Esmae. You can do this." I feel the tension relieve a little as she rubs my temples. Jemma lets her eyes find Katherine.
"Mom, how long until we reach the coven? She is going to need to lay down and fast."
"About ten minutes. I can't go any faster."
I let out another scream as the heat increases.
Roman intakes a quick breath and sighs loudly as he says, "Okay. Jemma move into the floorboard so we can lay her down. It's going to be too long for her to sit up."
They both quickly maneuver themselves onto the floor as they force me to lay across the backseat, making the heat feel as if it is bouncing around my insides.
"Roman, I can't take this anymore. I think I'm dying." I scream until my throat feels raw, my back arching as Roman and Jemma struggle to keep my arms and legs contained.
"I know, and you are in a sense, but it will be over in a couple hours," he says as he smooths my hair across my forehead, "But right now, I need you to try to concentrate on that energy you feel. You have to let it in.".
"No!" I cry, "It hurts too much," my voice cracks at the end as I move my head from side to side. "Make it stop, Roman." I kick my feet and try to move my body, willing to do anything to try and relieve this inferno that is consuming me.
"I can't," he says in a whisper, "You have to wait until it's over."
Suddenly, my body goes completely still. My eyelids slide down to shield my eyes. I can still feel my blood boiling, but now I can't move my body to try and relieve any pain.
"You're starting the second stage, Esmae. You will be able to feel everything, but you'll be paralyzed, and you won't be able to talk. I'm sorry." Roman's voice is so low, I can barely hear him.
The flame of the fire increases ten fold as silent tears make their way down my face. I can feel the feather touch of Jemma's hand on my forehead, trying to soothe some of the pain. I want to pass out, to not feel anything, but my body refuses to listen. My flesh feels as if it is peeling, my blood trying to escape my veins.
"We're pulling in now, Roman." I hear Katherine say.
The car comes to a stop and I feel myself being lifted up and into Roman's arms as he carries me into his house and races up the stairs. The soft blankets enclose around my skin as he lays me down on the bed.
His fingers glide over my forehead and down my shoulder. "Try to relax as much as you can, Mae. It will be over soon."
I want to respond, cry out as the pain consumes me, but the only thing I can do is lay still. He lays a light kiss on my forehead and sits in the chair, holding my hand. "I'm right here."
