It caught me off guard and surprised me. He puts his hands on the small of my back and pulls me closer to him. Then there is a knock on the door. Mark pulls away. "Coming" Mark yells and walks to the door. He opens it and in comes two guys. "Wade! Tyler! I didn't know you were coming to LA" he says looking from one to the other. "Well we wanted to surprise you" One of them says. "Well either way I'm excited that you guys are here" he says. One of them look down this way and sees me and jumps. I guess I freaked him out. "Aw fuck you scared me!" He exclaims "why is there a random girl standing in your hallway?" He asks. "Huh? Oh yeah guys this is Maddie she is a friend of mine. I just met her yesterday I was giving her a tour of the house when you guys came" He says and motions for me to come forward. I hesitate and then walk towards the guys. "Maddie these are my friends from Cincinnati. Wade-" Wade waves "and Tyler" then Tyler waves. "Nice to meet you" I say and smile. "Hey Wade Tyler can you help me with something?" Mark asks and heads to the kitchen. The guys follow. I pull out my phone and immediately text Laura. "How old is she anyways?" I hear Wade trying to be quiet. "She is 17" Mark mutters. "Mark! Where did you even meet her anyways?" Tyler asks. "At the school I've been a guest speaker for."
"Mark! You do realize that A.she is a minor and B.once you become a substitute there like you plan on that it will be frowned upon. You could be sent to jail." Wade scolds him. I didn't know he was trying to be a sub at the school. I look down at my phone. Hey how is your date going?
Well his friends are here and I just found out that Mark is trying to be a sub at the school!
What! If he does I don't care how cute you guys are I don't want him to be sent to jail.
I know. I've got to go now
and I put my phone in my pocket. "That's even worse Mark!"
"I know." Mark says. "You can't be her teacher and her boyfriend chose one or the other" Tyler says. "I guess I'll be her teacher."
"When is your first day?"
"Tomorrow" ugh this sucks. That's OK though at least we didn't get too far into whatever the fuck this is. "Hey Mark I've got to head out my mom wants me home" I lie to him. "Alright see you Maddie" he yells and I walk out of his house. I text Laura again Hey I'm on my way to your house

I put my phone back and start walking to her house. I arrive at her house and let myself in. We always do this to each others houses. "I'm here!" I yell. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs then Laura comes grabs my hand and takes me upstairs. "So what happened?" She asks. "Well he said he needed to drop some stuff off at his house and then he gave me a tour of his house and then he kissed me then his friends showed up and talked to him and Mark decided that he is going to be a teacher at the school and not my boyfriend." I tell her everything that has happened. "At least this didn't happen like months from now." Laura says looking on the bright side. "Yeah well I should be heading home so I'll see you tomorrow." I say and head home.
