"So. Anyone want to sing."

"We're not doing this again. Just be quiet. All of you."

"Sorry. Just trying to lighten the mood."

"Well the last time someone tried that they died."

"Yeah, so just shut your mouth or I'll pull you through the floor like the last guy."

The fact that we haven't all gone crazy is either a testament to human resilience or a mocking display of human insignificance. I don't even fully remember how I got here. When I think back on it, I don't remember any specific beginning. It's like trying to remember when I was young. I know I was, but I don't fully remember the first memory I ever had. Same with this. I know there was a point I came here, but I can't recall the moment I got here. I just recall endless memories of walking. I kinda remember someone who used to stand behind me, but I can't remember any specifics. I do, however, remember one conversation with someone who's no longer here.

"So why do you think we're here? What purpose does this serve? As far as I can tell this is just an endless march through stagnant time. I don't know if that's just my thought, but I can't really think of any other explanation for why we don't age or get hungry or die. What're your thoughts?"

"I don't know. I'm trying not to think about that because I really don't want to just give up. I'd rather focus on getting wherever it is we're going instead of thinking of why I'm going there."

"But hasn't the thought crossed your mind at least once? I mean, what can we be walking towards that would be this far away? And surrounded by whatever those are. What do you think is so important?"

"I don't know."

"I thought that maybe it could be enlightenment. Maybe. Like, we have to walk for as long as it takes for us to reach that point where we reach that moment of realization."
