In the Birling house hold, they had recently found out that they had been involved in the suicide of Eva Smith. Arthur Birling, the man of the house, had once sacked Eva Smith from her job at Birling's factory. Shelia Birling, the daughter, had then got the girl sacked from her next job at Millwards. Gerald Croft, Shelia's ex-fiancée had a secret relationship with Eva Smith and broke her heart a
later on. Sybil Birling, the mother, worked on a committee which helped young girls in need but refused Eva's case while she was pregnant. And finally Eric Birling, the son of the house, was the one who got her pregnant and stole money off his father's work in order to pay for her. By the end Eva Smith drank disinfectant to commit suicide. But what most people don't know, is the full story of what drove her to commit suicide.
