My eyes shot open as the car alarm blared through my windows from the crisp October air outside. I ran my fingers lazily through my hair and sighed in annoyance. It was my neighbor’s car alarm screeching at 4 in the morning again. I sat up lazily in my bed and stretched my arms above my head. I climbed sleepily out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I might as well use the extra time to get ready; I had to be to work at 6:30 anyway. I slipped into the shower and exhaled as the warm water caressed my shoulders. My muscles were sore and my eyes were tires, I could already tell it was going to be a long day. I washed my hair thoroughly and stood in the shower, content with the heat that the sprayer was releasing. When the water started to run cold, I reluctantly climbed out of the shower and shivered as the cold air hit my bare skin. I glanced at my reflection in the mirror and yawned. My reflection was the same as always. Long dark brown waves cascading down my back, clear blue eyes shining, my slightly crooked nose, and my light pink lips that formed into a pout. I ran a brush through my wet hair and quickly applied my usual makeup. Eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I yawned again as I made my way back into my room. I hastily threw on my work clothes; black dress pants a white shirt and my waitresses apron for the coffee joint I worked at. I was currently attending NYU and needed the extra money. I glanced at the digital clock beside my bed which read 5:56, and headed down stairs. I grabbed my keys and phone, before heading out of my tiny 2 story floor apartment into the already busy New York City. The city was buzzing and fussing over some band that was supposed to show up later today. I personally could care less. My main focus was work and school. The walk to the coffee shop took longer than usual because of the increase in people for this band. I rolled my eyes and sighed heavily as I pushed passed people to enter the coffee shop. Opening the door, I smiled at my coworker and best friend.

“Hey Nathan! It’s insane here...” I mumbled walking behind the counter and tucking my hair back into a loose bun. Nathan rolled his eyes.

“Tell me about it Caile. It’s been like this since 4:30 this morning! Why can’t people sleep!” His voice was exasperated causing me laugh.

“Nathan. We live in the city that never sleeps! If you want sleep go live in Kansas.” The door binged, signaling a new customer had walked in. I typed away at my cash register, trying to switch the data from Nathan’s to mine.

“Hello…” A voice said sleepily from the other side of the counter.

“Hi. How can I help you?” I said, still looking down at the register.

“Hi. I’d like a-.” The voice stopped mid-sentence, and I looked up curiously. My eyes med bright green orbs that belonged to a curly haired boy. He was staring at me. My body shifted uncomfortable under his gaze.

“Uhm...Can I help you?”  His eyes widened and a light blush spread across his cheeks.

“R-Right…erm… Can I get 5 decafs to go please?”  His voice was still thick with sleep.  I nodded and punched in his order.

“You know…I think drinking 5 coffees’ kind of defeats the point of having decaf…” I said, more so to myself than to him. His sudden chuckle surprised me and I looked up to see huge dimples on his cheeks.

“They’re not all for me. They’re for my friends.”

“Sure, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”  A small smile spreads across my lips.

“You’re quite funny… Do you know who I am...?” I looked up in confusion and met his eyes once again.

“No…Should I?” His smile widened and he shook his head quickly.

“Nope!” I raised an eye brow and shrugged.

“Well…uh here’s your coffee.” I handed him the drink carrier with the 5 decafs.

“Wait. What’s your name?” I met his eyes once again and softly bit my lip, a nervous habit.

“My name’s Caile.”  He smiled, flashing his dimples yet again and something inside my stomach twisted.

“I’m Harry. Nice to meet you Caile.” And with that he turned, and was on his way out.  Nathan was peering at me from the spot where he was leaning against the counter.

“What?” I said shooting him a side long glance.

“You two seemed awful flirty.”  I rolled my eyes and gave a small laugh towards Nathan.

“Whatever.”  The rest of my shift passes slowly and boringly. At 7:00 pm I was finally allowed to leave. I quickly got my things together and left in a hurry.  The sky was already dark and the air was already cool. I shivered slightly. A yawn formed against my lips and I walked through the crowded streets of New York. Someone pushed into my side as I was walking. Quite hard I might add. I fell to the ground forcefully.

“Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry!” An almost familiar voice said. I looked up to see a frazzled Harry, and I giggled softly.

“It’s fine. I’m fine. Harry chill.” His brow furrowed in confusion.

“How do you know my name?” He looked up and his eyes met mine. “CAILE!” Harry’s eyes shone with concern.  “Sorry! I didn’t see you.” I laugh shook my frame.

“Harry It’s fine!” He shot me a soft smile and offered a hand to help me up and as I grabbed his hand tingles spread through my fingers like wild fire.

“Sorry about that love!” He replied cheekily

“I’ve said this twice already, it’s fine!”

“I’m having a little movie night with the boys…would you like to come?” Harry asked softly, I bit my lip, pondering the idea.

“The boys...?” He laughed at my confused face, causing my brow to crease deeper.

“Right…I forgot you’re not a fan.”

“A Fan? Fan of what?” Harry winked at me and proceeded to grab my hand.

“So can I count on you for tonight?”

“I guess…Do you live here?” He cleared his throat.

“Uhm no…Here’s my hotel.” He scribbled down an unfamiliar address on a napkin and handed it to me.

“Alright…well I guess I’ll see you later?”

“Great! I can’t wait, see ya later Caile.”
