Chapter 3

It's been a week since the last time I had seen Harry and I couldn't shake the overwhelming desire to see him again. With a soft sigh, I reached for my phone and check it, hoping to see a text from Harry. When nothing was there, a small frown tugged at the corners of my lips. We had been texting almost every waking moment since the movie night, and the sudden lack of communication disappointed me. With another small sigh, I gathered my purse, phone and keys and headed off to work.

When I arrived at the coffee joint Nathan was sitting on a barstool with his feet propped up on the counter and a trashy gossip magazine was in his hands. I rolled my eyes and felt a grin spreading across my face. "I felt that eye roll, Calie. " I rolled my eyes again.

"I wasn't hiding it, Nate. " I turned and walked into the back room, with Nathan yelling after me.

"Don't sass me young lady!"

"Wouldn't dream of it babe!" A small chuckle sounded from both of us, and I picked up a rag to begin cleaning the counters. After about 10 minutes of comfortable silence and cleaning, Nathan gasped.

"Holy shit. " I rolled my eyes, Nate had most likely discovered some scandal performed by the latest big thing. Due to my lack of interest in modern trends or the "latest celebrities", I chose to ignore Nathan and not investigate further. "Caile, you HAVE to come see this!.." I sighed softly.

"I really don't care Nathan." I could hear Nathan jumping from the barstool and running to join me in the back room. Before I knew it he was shoving the magazine in my face

"Read it." With a huff I wiped my hands on my apron, and took the magazine from Nathan's waiting hands. I rolled my eyes and another sigh of annoyance fell past my lips, before I cleared my throat and began reading aloud.

"One Direction's boyband member... Harry Styles?..." I looked up at Nathan with confusion plastered across my features. "This can't be right, Nathan! Harry isn't in some stupid boyband!" My mind raced and the pieces began to click into place. Niall, Liam, Louis, Zayn... The girls everywhere, the secret looks... The cryptic comments..."Do you know me?" "I forgot you aren't a fan." I mentally slapped myself for being so out of the loop. "Oh my God...Harry's in some stupid boyband!"

"They're not stupid!" Nathan defended. "I can't believe I didn't recognize him.. I must've really been tired.." He trailed off with a look of disappointment. Coming back to reality however, he brought his eyes down to meet mine and he bit his lip. "There's more.."

"More?!" I cried exasperatedly.

"Just keep reading..." I sighed for what must've been the 30th time today, and lowered my eyes back down to the page before me.

"One Direction's boyband member Harry Styles was spotted with a new mystery girl earlier this week..." My heart clenched. "Oh..." Nathan immediately sensed my distressed over an apparently famous Harry with another girl.

"Turn the page."

"What?"

"Turn the goddamn page! Must you be so stubborn Caile?" With a brief glare and a huff of annoyance, I turned the page. My eyes widened slightly at the image before me. It was from that night, right before he invited me back to his hotel. My throat was dry and my head felt fuzzy. Why hadn't he told me any of this?.. He must've known something like this would happen...

"I need to go Nathan...can you cover for me please?" Nathan nodded quickly.

"Of course." With a brief nod and mumbled thank you, I was throwing my apron off and running out the door, the magazine in hand.

Without thinking a much comprehension, I climbed into my car and took off, headed for Harry's hotel. My cheeks were flushed red with a mix of anger and humiliation. He'd lied to me and led me to believe he was someone that he wasn't! On top of all that he had publicly embarrassed me! My fingers tightened around my steering wheel, and I pulled into a parking spot hastily. I climbed out quickly, grabbing the magazine clutching it tightly in my hands. I made it to Harry's door and was knocking angrily before I could even comprehend what I was about to do. Niall opened moments later, and as soon as he saw me a grin erupted on his face.

"Caile! Nice to see ye love!" I ignored his comment.

"Where's Harry?" My voice was surprisingly calm, considering the fierce emotions coursing through my veins. However, sensing my anger, Niall quickly swallowed.

"I'll go grab him..." Niall disappeared back inside the room, leaving me standing out in the hallway. Moments later the door open softly, and Harry stepped out. I took in his appearance quickly. His overgrown curls were pushed back away from his forehead, and he was wearing dark skinny jeans and a black T-shirt. Tattoos, that hadn't been visible to me before, now lined his arms. A lip ring took place in his bottom lip, and I wondered if it had been there all along, or if he had just now put it in. Something about his appearance and defensive posture, suddenly made him look like a different person. He looked dark and intimidating. My throat went dry and I pressed a sweaty palm against my thin leggings.

"Is everything alright Caile?"

"Yeah, yeah of course..." I mentally slapped myself the second the words left my mouth. "No, actually something is wrong." I lifted the magazine and threw at him. His hands shot up quickly, his muscles flexing. He caught the flimsy paper easily between his hands.

"What the hell is that?"

"What the hell is what?" Harry said as he opened the magazine to the marked page.

"Oh...that."

"Yeah, that."

"Caile..." His tone was calm and almost condescending. Almost.

"You lied to me!"

"I didn't."

"You did!"

"It's your own fault you didn't know! It wasn't a goddamned secret Caile!" I crossed my arms and glared at his dark figure.

"Yeah! I didn't know! And you didn't tell me! You should've told me! You humiliated me!" I bit my lip and did my best to swallow the angry lump forming in my throat.

"I barely know you! Why should I care about this? This is a bigger problem for me then it is for you anyway. Just go back to meaningless little life as a barista. Okay? Can you manage that Caile?" I swallowed hard and my heart surged as each word pierced me. When had he gotten so mean and awful? This wasn't the boy I had met just over a week ago... Maybe I had only fooled myself into thinking I knew him. Maybe this was who he really was. Tears welled in my eyes and I blinked quickly to keep them at bay.

"You're nothing but a stuck up celebrity." Hatred anger and hurt dripped from each word like venom. He didn't even flinch.

"Sorry to break it to you babe."

"I thought you were different..." My voice was soft and quiet, just barely above a whisper.

"You thought wrong."

"Apparently." I turned on my heel quickly and took off down the hall. When I reached the lobby of the hotel, I heard someone shouting my name. Assuming it was Harry, I started running, eager to get away. However, the person caught up to me and a rough hand grabbed my shoulder carefully, forcing me to stop.

"Caile..." That voice... It wasn't Harry... I lifted my gaze and my eyes meg piercing blue ones.

"Niall?"
