Sorry, to My Friend
How were you still my friend?
After I flushed your science project down the toilet,
because I was jealous of yours, being better than mine.
You didn't cry, you said it was fine.
I never did say sorry.
How were you still my friend?
After I told everyone, that you still sleep with your teddy.
I thought you'd be mad for sure,
You didn't glare; you carried on playing your peg game of solitaire.
I never did say sorry.
How were you still my friend?
After I shaved your head bald whilst you were still asleep.
I was convinced this was the last straw, to my endless pranks.
You didn't curse or yell. But, I saw it cut deep.
Shocked as I was, I never did say sorry.
Now, I'm too late. Late to say, I'm
Sorry for all the things I've done.
Sorry, I didn't show you I cared.
You were always a gentle soul, true
to your word. How could I treat to so unfair?
I don't know, my dear friend, I don't know
But, I will tell you what.
I know I would do anything to go back in time,
and in those moments, tell you "I'm so sorry",
every single damn time.
