Darkness. Darkness was all Josh could see. Then he realized he had his eyes closed.
He was in a tunnel of rocks. There were support beams running through the tunnel, and a desk beside him with mining tools and a map.
He was still in the mines.
He tried to stand up, but he couldn't feel his legs. He crawled over to the desk and grabbed the map. He could see he was in the safest part of the mines, where no support beam faults were visible. He felt the blood rushing back into his legs. He picked up a pickaxe and used it as a walking cane.
He started going through the tunnel, when he suddenly got a very painful headache.
He fell to the floor, and all his memories came back to him.
Hannah and Beth.
Dr Hill.
His friends.
The psycho.
The wendigos.
He remembered the horrors of last night. If it was last night. He didn't have any clue what time it was.
"No... Stop!" He said. Hannah and Beth were there. His sisters. He had let them die.
"Stop! Get away from me!" He shouted.
"But Josh... We're family..." Said Beth.
"No! Stop it! I need to get out of here!" He shrieked. He tried to run, but Hannah was right behind him.
"Josh... You're her with us... You're not alone anymore..." She said.
"No! No!" Screamed Josh.
Suddenly, they were all gone. A man had slapped him out of his hallucinations.
"Shut up, kid." He said.
The man was dressed in full winter gear. He was wearing a massive park, winter trousers, winter boots, and a bandana over his mouth. He had goggles on, like what you'd wear when operating a flamethrower.
He also had a flamethrower.
"Please... Don't hit me..." Said Josh, worried.
"I ain't gon' hit you if you'd shut up." Said the man.
"W-where... Are we?" Asked Josh.
"The mines. We gotta get you outta here kid, because there are some wendigos left. And they're never not hungry."
"O-ok..." Said Josh. "W-where are my friends?"
"Those idiots?" Said the man. "Either dead or they got off the mountain."
"DEAD?" Shouted Josh.
"Not so loud, kid. The wendigos'll hear us. Anyway, spot hey seemed like a half-smart bunch, so probably not dead."
"W-who are you?" Asked Josh.
"You ask too many questions." Said the man. "Anyway, name's Victor. Victor Milgram."
