If The City Sleeps

The rivers would flow without shutters;
The trees would be free from wood-cutters.
The leaves would wave to the wind;
With a sour flavour of tamarind.

There would be no black money;
But now it seems so funny.
The sea would go up and down;
Earth would finally wear a crown.

The raindrops would fall gently on the ground;
Nature would again resound.
There would be no rice to eat;
The plate would be free of wheat.

There would be no screams of horn;
Earth would be heaven till dawn.
But the city will never sleep;
And if it does, we can only weep.
