Brielle Jennings. Long brown hair, blue eyes, and a flimsy dress. 18 years of age and still at it. At what you may ask? That special someone. I haven't found him yet and I won't stop looking. Sure I had gone out with some of the most popular jocks in school. They Were exactly as you would expect. Dark black skinny jeans , tight t-shirt and some killer kicks. Every girl in school wanted to be with one of them. Me? Oh no. They were far too out of my league.
I wasn't the most known girl in school. I got good grades and kept my priorities straight. I had a few friends that if I lost, I probably wouldn't make it out of high school. Merissa was your average teenager. She had long blonde wavy hair and bright green irises. I had always been jealous of them. She had been my best friend since the start of 6th grade. I'd probably be a hot mess without her.
Jenna was the less social one of our group. She was shy and didn't like talking much. She'd only speak to her closest friends. (Aka mwah.) She was one of the most beautiful girls in school. If I could give her the courage to ask out her biggest crush I would. She of course didn't oblige. We were all just a bundle of bananas. We never left each others side.
I lived with my aunt kiara. She was a decent woman. Every night she'd make a pot of tea and tell me a story about my parents. I'd love hearing them but they brought back memories. I could still picture my mother kissing me goodnight. Or my dad reading me a bedtime story. I still felt guilty. If I wouldve never asked them to go buy pizza, They wouldn't of left that day. It all just went by like a blur. I remember that day thoroughly.
I heard three loud knocks on the door. "Knock knock Knock." I smiled at my younger brother setting my cards down. "Don't look at my cards." I laughed. He rolled his eyes giving me a cheeky grin. He was adorable. He looked exactly like mom. I had gotten my dad's looks. It was a win win for both of us. Our parents were beautiful. I carefully got up from the sofa and made my way towards the door. Must be mom with the pizza. I squeeled. Good. I was Starving. I unlatched the lock and my eyes landed on not my parents but a young male. He was in a police uniform. I smiled at him kindly. He took off his hat and gave me a half smile. "Can I help you?" I asked him. He nodded weakly. He looked as if he was going to tell me something important. "Umm. Yes. Are you umm Ms. Jennings?" He asked. I simply nodded. His eyes softened. I was beginning to feel a bit worried. "It's your parents." And then my heart stopped beating.
"Wha. What's going on?!" I asked urgently. His head lowened. That could only mean... "I'm sorry miss. They got in a wreck. And they. They aren't here with us anymore. "Those were the words I had never forgotten. They couldn't find they're way out. They would be stuck with me for the rest of life. At least I still had my younger brother Jonah. He wasn't so little anymore. He was a 12 year old ladies man. It never occurred to me that my little brother would be getting more dates than me. It always made me laugh. He lived with my aunt as well. He didn't know much about mum considering he wasn't that old then, but he still asked aunt Kiara about her.
"Hey Aunt Ki?" Jonah asked running a hand through his hair.
"Yes sweetie." She shot him a warming smile
"What was mom like?" This was a question I had heard more times than I could remember. Aunt kiara looked at him kindly bringing his hands to hers.
"Well Jonah. She was a very loving woman. You remind me so much of her." She stopped a second letting out a soft chuckle. "You and your mother looked just alike. She could tell the most funniest jokes I had ever heard of. Darn. You couldn't be around that woman without laughing. Such as yourself young man." It was true .Jonah did make me laugh quite often.
"Really? She told jokes?" He asked an expression of curiosity on his face.
"Oh yes." She smiled. "She made everyone around her feel comfortable. When she died I didn't know what to do without my sister. Who would be there for me when I needed it? It was all really hard on Brielle as well." I walked into the room hearing my name.
"It's true. Mom would always be there for us. " I kneeled down to Jonah's height. " He bit his lip looking at me lopsided.
"I wish I were old enough to remember." He looked down."Trust me Jonah. We all miss her."
He asked his next question. "And dad?"
My heart raced. Oh the memories we had together. I was his #1 girl.
Aunt kiara looked at me a bit of concern in her eyes. She was feeling my shakiness and helped the situation. If she hadn't I probably would've bursted out crying. "Enough talk young man. It's a school night. Why don't you go make your bed?" He crossed his arms pouting.
"But it's only 9:00." He complained."Yes and your bedtime is 9:00. Off you go. " She guided him up the stairs. She looked back at me giving me a smile. She had the same dimples as mom. One above her right eye. I unfortunately had not a dimple on my face.
I put a hand through my coco hair and let out a sigh. I didn't have any assignments tonight so why not get some extra sleep. I walked up the stairs and through the halls. I made a left turn entering my room. It was right across from jonahs.
My room was neat. I had a queen sized bed with posters of some of my favorite singers on the wall. I had a thing for Lana Del Rey. My bed was covered with a soft duvet. I had a pillow just the right size. My room was your average teenager range. It fit my personality just right.
I leaned my head on its side and closed my eyes. Maybe I'd have a good dream tonight.
A/N; so what do you think? It's only 1,180 words but hey it's the first chapter. If you guys could vote that'd be amazing! lots of love~Alicia;)
