*One Year Later*
Over the past year, things had really begun to turn around. No longer was my band and I just wanna-bes and never-weres. Thanks to Griffin, we eventually put out our debut record, landing a spot headlining our own tour and actually got signed with a real record company. Griffin had also made quite the name for himself in the producer's business, and if things continue like this, I'd say he could be ranked as one of the best some day.
As for our friends, shortly after Griffin and I were married, Luke and Bridget had announced they were set to tie the knot the following year and they couldn't be happier about it. At their engagement party we even noticed Dustin and Aria getting cozy, but I guess only time will tell what's cooking there.
Griffin and I had certainly come a long way from being mere acquaintances (if I had even ever went as far as to use such a dearing term back then) to more than just best friends. But I guess fate has a way of bringing soulmates together, no matter how far apart they are. And with Griffin by my side every day for the rest of our lives, I could tell things would be getting even better...
I lazily opened my eyelids as they adjusted to the morning sun beginning to stream in the window. Stretching out like a starfish, I felt Griffin begin to stir beside me as I rolled over and kissed his cheek.
I put on my best, fake british accent and smiled, "Mornin', love."
Instantly his eyes snapped open as I curious grin took over his face. "Morning love? Count me in!"
Without wasting another second, he had managed to roll on top of me as he started attacking me with kisses, trailing over my face and neck. I couldn't help but let out a laugh as I felt him go down to my shoulders.
"Griffin-" I laughed a little softer. He slowed down to a stop.
He looked at me adoringly after kissing me once more, this one slowly on my cheek, "Yes?"
"That's not what I meant," I chuckled, but quickly added in, "-And although I don't object, my empty stomach is getting the better of me and I'd really like to go eat breakfast."
"Ok, but first," he kissed me on the nose as he grinned. "Can I have the pleasure of kissing you one more time?"
I let out a quiet chuckle as I sighed in content and watched his eyes, "Well, it's not like it matters what I say, so..."
An immediate frown slipped on Griffin's face. "What do you mean?" he scrunched his brows. "Of course it does. Do you really think I wouldn't respect what you say?"
"Well, no, I know you would," I spoke quickly. "But, you know...I figured it's just a kiss."
He just shook his head, a faint smile reforming, "It's not just a kiss." He leaned in a little closer but stopped at the last second, his lips just barely hovering over mine. "I didn't get an answer..."
A smile once again taking over me, I could feel his lips brush a little against mine as I whispered, "Yes."
The space between us -which was next to nothing- instantly vanished as we began to kiss tenderly. His hand gently rested on my waist as my fingers wove through his hair. And that's when my stomach chose the worst time to pretend to be a dying whale, and a dramatic one at that. Griffin chuckled against me as we pulled apart a tad.
"Alright," he smiled as he brought us up to a sitting position. "You need food." He found my hand with his, and the next thing I knew, we were skipping down the stairs ready to start our day.
"Oh, hang on," I gently pulled back as I heard a noise in the other room. "The baby's awake, I'll meet you down there." As I entered the soft blue room, Griffin was once again at my side.
"I'll help you," he grinned as little Caleb squealed happily at our presence.
By the time we made it downstairs and had prepared breakfast, the sun was now shining brightly through every window. And as the three of us ate together, laughing amid bitefuls of waffles (or spoonfuls of baby mush, in Caleb's case), I looked at my happy family and couldn't help but wonder of the wonderful life we all had ahead of us. It may not be perfect, or always easy for that matter, but I just knew it would still be good.
And even though I had known it for awhile, it wasn't until moments like this that I realized I had finally found my happily ever after.
The end.
*Author's Note*
I know, it's cheesy. But that's just how I like it and I hope some of you liked it, too. :) A big thanks to CrazyPheonix for proofreading each chapter before they were uploaded.
Until next time, stay invincible.
