If I had one wish to grant, I'd wish for this not to happen. It was close to the end of senior year. It was also close to becoming another month in my three year relationship with her, my Iris. After all of it, we had planned to find a place a to start a life, together. That was until...
**********
As the last bell of the day rang, everyone came out swarming like bats. I had both earbuds in to block out the screeches. I was only a foot away from my locker when suddenly I was attacked by a blue haired, five foot tall demon.

"Why must you be so tall?" She asked while climbing off and opening my locker.

"You haven't grown a bit since the day we've meet." I replied, putting my guard up to defend myself from a punch.

"Anyway, how'd you do on the test?"
"Pretty sure I failed it."

She gave me a cold stare. I had forgotten to put my defense back up as she knocked the wind out of me.

"You know I'm kidding," I said bent
over and gasping for air "I've done this to you many times."
She tilted my head upward and kissed my nose. "I know."

I placed my book bag on my back and closed the door to my locker. "Do you need anything from your locker?" I questioned

"No. I got everything I needed last period so we can spare some time together before getting on the bus."
She wrapped her arms around the lower part of my chest and rested her head underneath my chin. I placed my hand on her neck and rested my head on top of hers.

"A few more weeks and we can finally be together." I said.

"It's finally going to happen." She hugged a bit tighter "To think we only started dating three years ago." She let me free from her deadly hug and grabbed my hand. "Lets go before we miss the bus for the third time this month."

We walked through the halls painted white and yellow, up the stairs and through the main lobby. She stopped and stood in front of me. She grabbed the collar of my hoodie and pulled me down for a kiss. "You better do your homework tonight. Mr. Thompson told me all the things you didn't do. Your going to fail and you won't be able to graduate."

I sighed and looked to the side. She wasn't wrong. If I didn't do tonight's homework and makeup the ones from before, I wouldn't be able to graduate. "I'll do them tonight. Now let's hurry, we're going to miss the bus."

We walked out the front doors, said our goodbyes and parted ways from there. I got on the bus and headed to the second to last seat on the right side. There was only one other person in the back which was my brother, Richie. Richie was a year older than me. He was held back in the first grade for not doing any of his work at all.

"My legs are killing me from the mile we had to run," He said with his back against the window, resting his legs on the seat "what was your time?"

"9 minutes, 32 seconds. Yours?"

"About the same."

We sat there silently as our bus left the school, down the hill, past the Stewarts gas station and onto the small bridge. The red light ahead of us caused us to stop. I sighed, plugged in both ear buds and moved to the inside of my seat towards the window. Richie abruptly shoved my shoulder to get my attention "Are you fucking seeing this? Look over there!" He pulled me to the opposite side of the bus and pointed to the window. I sat still, shocked of what was going on. There were men dropping and landing from planes up above. Everyone started screaming, scared that something might happen, which something did.

"We need to get out of h-" before Richie could finish his sentence, the cars on the opposite lane started speeding past us. A car behind us had attempted to go around the held up line. It wasn't long until it had collided with one on the opposite lane and hit the side of the bus. The car impacted the bus just hard enough to slide it through the railing and into the river below.

My scattered thoughts were then switched to darkness.
