This story begins at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the cemetery.

"You should be honoured. That's about as close as he gets to saying thank you." Natasha approached Steve and Sam.

"You're not going with him?" Steve asked.

"No."

"You're not staying here either, are you?"

"No," She laughed, "I blew all my covers... and I have to find a new one."

"That might take a while," Steve joked, avoiding the sadness that was slowly coming over him.

"I'm counting on it," She replied. The conversation fell silent as they looked at each other. Neither willing to let the other one go. Steve pulled her into an embrace, positioning his mouth close to her ear.

He whispered softly, "I know things are going to be difficult between us. But that won't stop me from caring about you. You mean so much to me and I hate to see you go... But It's your decision and I respect it."

They broke their hug while their hands remained attached. Natasha's green eyes met Steve's piercing blue. She saw the sadness and desperation in them, but she knew that she couldn't let that stop her. Steve looked into her eyes. For once they were not just emotionless orbs. Natasha's facade slowly slipped away, revealing a pained expression on her face. The look quickly disappeared as Nat let go of Steve's hand, and quickly walked towards her car, with Steve following closely behind her. He reached his hand out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her back towards him. He secured his one hand behind her upper back and the other around her waist. Nat wrapped her arms around his neck. Naturally they leaned in, lips meeting. It was a quick kiss that felt long to the two friends. When their kiss broke, they reluctantly let go of each other.

Natasha slowly opened her car door while Steve slowly walked away.

"Steve!" Nat called out. He quickly turned around."I still owe you," She said with a smile.

Steve returned the favor. He watched as she got into her car and drove off. Sam carefully approached him.

"You alright?" He asked.

Steve hesitated then answered, "No."

"Come on," Sam told Steve as he walked away, "We have work to do."

A memory played in Natasha's head as she drove down the nearly empty street.

Flashback

"He's doing surprising well for someone who's been asleep for seventy years... You know I really think he's going to take a liking to you," Nick said with a chuckle as he made coffee. Natasha stared at place filled with pancakes, bacon, and eggs. She tossed the food around the plate, not eating it.

"Why do you say that?" She asked curiously. Nick turned to face her, their eyes making contact.

"Because you're different and he likes different," he said, "Now stop playing with your food and eat it."

Natasha smiled at the memory. Back then she never knew what she was getting herself into and now she's stuck in love with man too good for her. Her quote "Love is for children" was null and void now.

Natasha didn't know how long she would be gone, but she it wouldn't be too long. The urge to go back to Steve was too strong for her to be gone too long.

She sighed. I'll be back soon Steve, she thought to herself.
