It was midnight here in Fargo a young girl around 16 was walking through the park. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, and was now walking home from his house.
Her boyfriend, well her ex-boyfriend now, wasn't her vision of how a relationship was suppose to be. He constantly yelled at her for things she hadn't even done, he put up a front in front of her parents, making them like him. When she tried to explain to them how he actually was, her parents didnt believe her. 'Give him a chance they said' they said, 'he'll come around.' they said; but she didn't think he would, but she pretended She tried to believe what her parents said, but tonight settled her mind. He had never hit her before tonight though. Tonight they were in a particular fight that hadn't ended well. She had finally stood up for herself and tried to break the relationship off, it ended with a red cheek and and and a broken window.
There were tears running down her cheeks making her bright red hair stick to her face. Although it was a warm night, she shivered. She was passing through an area with very little light, the lamps that decorated the park had dimmed for the night.
A sound echoed through her head, she snapped her head around searching the darkness around her, willing her eyes to see through the dark. She caught a glimpse of something in the shadows, it was almost glowing like a cats eye, gleaming at her. It was low to the ground and thinking it was a cat, kept walking, but quickened her pace.
She saw the opening at the end of the park when something hit her from the side, knocked her to the ground and felt something prick her arm, she tried to sit up, regretting it instantly, she felt nauseous, a wave of vertigo came and passed just as quickly, her stomach twisting and turning. Pushing away the pain, she saw someone else walking down the path, she tried to scream for help but before her straggled scream had a chance to voice, someone clamped there hand across her face, she had tried to bite it or even lick it, with no success. The person picked her up and and ran inhumanly fast, as he was running she caught a glimpse of her abductor, He wasn't tall but he wasn't short either, blond hair just reaching his eyes, his eyes were grey with specks of gold that stood out. He was wearing a black t-shirt that showed off his arms, which were toned but not overly muscular. In the dim moonlight she could see the faint silver lines that laced around his arms like a pattern drawn with an expert hand.
The boy leaned down next to her and whispers in her ear. His breath was cool against her skin, sticky with sweat.
"my names Corin, I'll explain later"
She barely heard him though he was speaking loudly. After a minute she registered what he said, then she croaked out,
"my names Ridley" her throat was dry, and choked.
"I know" he still held her in his arms, which were smooth and hard and warm.
Once they reached a hotel he let her down, -although she faintly remembered how they got there. Ridley remembered what had happened and gained some common sense. She realized she should yell or do something, so she did.
"oh just shut up, I'm not going to hurt you; okay?" he said rolling his eyes and with that she snapped her mouth shut and began walking hastily toward the front desk.
"hello, can I help you sir?" said the man at the front desk with a bit too much forced enthusiasm.
"reservation for Kyle Freeland"
"Aah yes!" the concierge said with a bright smile that has been whitened recently; and handed two room keys over. "enjoy, you two!" he called after us.
"you said your name is Corin."
"it is." he replied.
Ridley decided that the conversation wouldn't go much further than that, so kept her snide remarks to herself.
