A/N: Chase and Deanna's date night outfits in MM
Chase was tempted to steal a glance at Deanna who shifted uncomfortably in the seat next to him. Instead, he trained his eyes on the road and maneuvered his silver Porsche to pull up to the restaurant after a fifteen minute drive. The Porsche was a sleek and sexy sports car that stole Chase's heart the moment he laid eyes on it. It cost a pretty penny but Chase could handle that expense, thanks to his hard work. He exhaled a breath he wasn't conscious he'd been holding in. "We're here" He said before sliding out of the driver's seat and making his way to Deanna's door. He opened it for her like a true gentleman and closed it after she exited. Deanna felt the night air brush over her skin as Chase's cologne assaulted her senses making her a bit nervous to be this close to him. To ease her nerves, she decided to take initiative and took two steps towards the entrance of the restaurant when she felt a strong pair of arms encircle her waist. Chase pulled her so close to him that her butt brushed against his crotch. He swept all her hair to one side and exposed her neck. He positioned his lips to her ear and whispered "you look ravishing" Deanna shuddered at the feel of his breath on her skin, clearly affected by him. Before she could think of a response, he linked his hands into hers and whisked her into the restaurant feeling pleased with her reaction.
Deanna sat holding her menu while she watched the waitress who led them to their table flirt mercilessly with Chase. Talk about annoying. "We'll just have some water and appetizer for now" Chase said politely through gritted teeth. Candy, the waitress, obviously couldn't take a hint. He couldn't even recount the amount of times she had adjusted her already tight blouse and had her cleavage on display like merchandise. If you asked him, Candy sounded like a porn star's name, how fitting.
"Seems like she's really into you" Deanna said, a smile on her lips. Chase returned her playful smile
"Funny, cause it's you I'm into" He countered bluntly, gaining a satisfying blush from Deanna. The rest of their night went smoothly and Deanna had a satisfying meal of steamed fish, mashed potatoes, pasta and red wine. Dessert was a slice of black forest cake. Apart from spicy foods, Chase knew cake was another of Deanna's weaknesses. "This is so good. I sure hope this isn't some master plan to get me fat" Chase laughed, flashing his pearly whites. "Not at all. You're already thick in all the right places" he added with mischief in his eyes. Deanna blushed profusely. The man sure knew how to speak his mind. If he kept it up, they'd be in trouble by the end of the night and trouble was the last thing Deanna wanted...or was it? Her mind absently drifted to what Cam had said to her about closure. She had to admit though, that being here with Chase felt good, like old times and if it was about closure, she probably might not see him after tonight. He'd been leaving her again. The thought made her sigh inwardly. It made no sense to enjoy all this when it would just lead to them parting again. She might as well cut to the chase (no pun intended) and find out why they were both here in this restaurant. Chase looked at Deanna, he could read the look on her face. The look she held when she was trying to figure something out mentally. "Why did you leave?" He heard her ask, not the least bit surprised. She'd never been the type to beat around the bush. Chase closed his eyes briefly before reopening them and taking the sight of wonderful woman before him. "You don't know how many times I've rehearsed in preparation for that question..." Chase barely whispered
"Well then tell me" Deanna probed. If only it was that easy, He thought.
"I'm sorry Deanna. I never meant to hurt you" he continued. He heard her sharp intake of breath.
"But you did Chase. You left me without an explanation and I can't sit her any longer and pretend when its been on my mind since the day you texted me" Chase watched as she sat upright in her chair. He too, did the same. "You're right, you deserve an explanation" He paused a bit before adding
"I panicked.I guess I was afraid"
"Afraid? Afraid of what?" Deanna pressed, her heart beating wildly.
"Of us...that it wouldn't work out between us" Chase didn't know how else to explain himself.
"What do you mean? We were together for 3 years, everything was fine. We were fine" or so I thought, she added mentally.
"We were" Chase replied, hating himself with each passing moment of their intense conversation.
"Then what was it?" Deanna pressed, growing annoyed by his vague and confusing replies. "You didn't deserve me. You deserved better" Deanna was at a heightened level of frustration.
"Chase, you're talking in circles" Suddenly Chase signaled the porn star waitress for the bill and left enough money to cover the everything plus a tip.
"I think I should take you home now" He said, as he rose from his chair, his voice strained from all the emotions he was currently experiencing. Deanna got up from her seat and stared at him in utter confusion and anger before she stormed past him in and through the restaurant doors. Her heels clicked on the concrete as she made her way towards the parking lot scanning the area for a familiar Porsche. Chase caught up with her as soon as her hands landed on the passenger door. "It's locked Deanna" he said, turning her to face him. Her eyes glistened with tears. "Shit..." He cursed under his breath.
"Deanna..." He began
"Take me home Chase"
"Deanna I..."
"Take me home" she repeated forcefully .The ride to Deanna's apartment was a quiet one. The car was filled with tension. Deanna's thoughts were running a mile a minute. He left because he didn't want to be with you. He was just afraid to tell you. You were a fool to fall for him. Her vision was blurred by her tears. She would not cry. She wouldn't give him that satisfaction. She'd spent enough time crying over him in the past. Chase flexed his muscles while his arms gripped the steering wheel. He was aching to tell Deanna the truth. He wanted to so badly but it was so hard. He should have never come back, should have never texted her...but staying away was too damn hard.
Deanna flew out of the vehicle the moment it came to a stop in front of her apartment. "Deanna stop! Deanna please..." Chase pleaded. He cornered her at her front door as she fumbled for her keys. He held her hand and covered her body. "I'm sorry" he breathed into her neck.
"Chase go...just go" She replied breathlessly as she found herself in a familiar position, yet again, with her back to him. Having him so close was wreaking havoc with her emotions. "I'm sorry D, please believe that I never meant for things to end that way" He pleaded
"Its fine. It doesn't even matter anymore. We've both moved on" came her angry yet rational thoughts.
By this time, Chase had spun her around to face him. "You're wrong. I haven't stopped thinking about you"
"Don't say that" she rasped even though her heart did a somersault at those words, words that she wouldn't admit she'd been dying to hear. Words that would break her down and render he helpless before him.
"Leaving you was mistake Deanna" he said so softly that she strained to hear him. His face was dangerously close to her...his lips only centimeters away from hers. Her lids fluttered closed involuntarily and Chase seized the opportunity before he could think twice, and crashed his lips against hers. Fuck! She tasted so damn good. He increased the pressure against her delicious lips, coaxing her to let him in. Deanna fought to keep herself afloat, she was melting once again in the arms of Chase Williams. She placed her palms flat against his chest...bad idea...because it connected with his rock hard chest. Their lips moved in synch, the rhythm familiar to them both. Chase put his hands behind Deanna's neck, deepening the kiss. He wanted her to feel how he felt, he wanted this kiss to tell her the things he couldn't say out loud. Finally, she became jelly against him and he slipped his tongue inside her mouth. She tasted of red wine mixed with the saltiness of her tears and he relished the taste. She tasted way better than he remembered. He couldn't walk away, not again.
"I...I can't breathe" Deanna gasped. Chase let her go reluctantly. He looked at her swollen lips and lust filled eyes. Her chest rose and fell with her heavy breathing and he was fixated on the swell of her breasts for a moment. "I want another chance" He blurted out. Deanna swore she was hearing things. Her mind was already foggy due to the kiss and she was slightly aroused. Chase was not asking what she thought he was! No way was Chase asking to be back in her life. They stood staring at each other for what seemed like forever. Don't listen to him. He hurt you. He left you. Who's to say he won't do it again? " Her conscience chided. She stood taking him in, unable to respond. She felt like she was dreaming.
Chase took the key from her hands and opened her apartment door. "Think about it...goodnight" He said and headed for his car the minute she disappeared inside. So much for closure Chase. He wanted to tell her the truth like his brother had advised, but he couldn't. Talk about selfish. He wanted to tell her then let them go their separate ways. He wanted to...but he couldn't. He couldn't tell Deanna about his 3 year old daughter. What a bang!!! I bet y'all weren't expecting that!
What a shocker!
