You see, I knew a girl.
She was always the smartest.
Always filled with life.
Always smiling.
Always okay.
But she would put up this mask, blocking out her true identity.
So no one knew.
I don't blame you.
But-
How could you not noticed, how her eyes glazed with tears anytime someone mentioned a family?
How could you not notice, how she stares at food in disgust and pushes it away, claiming she already ate?
How could you not notice, how her lower lips quiver, whenever someone harshly grabs her arm?
How could you not notice, how her smile doesn't quite reach her eyes?
How could you not notice she's broken?
Sure, she doesn't seem like it.
But if you would really take a minute to look, you would only see, how broken she really was.
All it takes it a minute, to really look at someone. To see how they are a prisoner to their own mind. To see that they are destroying themselves. To see that they are not okay. It's that one minute that can save their lives.
But it's a minute you avoided.
And that ignored minute ended in a devastating result.
You don't see her getting the best grades anymore.
You don't see her, bursting with life.
You don't see her smiling.
You don't see her okay.
No, you don't see her at all.
Because she's isn't in that desk, in front of you. She isn't walking those halls anymore. She isn't at lunch, reading a book at her usual table.
Because she's not there. Not anymore
And she will never be.
All it took was a minute, that would've helped her.
All it took, was an, "Are you okay?"
All it took, was a single smile that could've helped.
But you didn't provide that, could you?
Wait, yes you could've.
You just didn't.
But now she is gone.
No, it's not your fault.
But yes, you could've helped.
Now, you remember that girl, you saw yesterday?
Long sleeves, no friends, and never speaks.
Yeah.
Give her that minute.
Just a minute, is all I'm asking.
Take a good look at her, and help her.
Save her.
You couldn't save the other one.
And that's okay.
Because that girl was me.
And I don't blame you.
But you have a chance, to save this one.
So take it.
Take that minute, and save her.
I promise, if you do, you'll help me too.
Even if I'm gone, help me by helping her.
It's just one minute.
It's that very minute that counts.
So use it.
I literally wrote this at the top of my head. But I'm glad I did.
:)
