As I was riding the bus home from school, I noticed Connor sitting towards the back with a group of his friends talking about something. Something in hushed whispers. The way they were acting it sounded like something serious. How much I’d like to be a fly on the wall over there, I thought to myself. Frustrated I couldn’t hear a word, I leaned back against the cold leather bus seat and sighed.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Connor eyeing me. It immediately sent Goosebumps up my arm and flushed my cheeks. I just smiled back at him and waved. I don’t think he saw though.                                                                                                                                                                                                           When it was his turn to get off the bus, I paid attention to the neighborhood where he lived. Wow. I thought to myself, nice neighborhood. By the looks of it, he must be filthy rich.                                                                                                                                                                                         On his way to the door he gave me a smile and said “see ya round’ Kaitlin.”  Perfect. Just perfect. He doesn’t even remember my name? It’s not that hard just kay-lyn.

“Yep bye” I quietly responded trying to hint the tinge of disappointment in my voice. “Oh by the way” he continued. “Are you going to Morg’s tonight?”

First of all- Morgs? Second of all-umm what’s it to him? “Mm yeah I am, uh why?” I asked. It was odd, he looked as if he really regretted asking the question and his cheeks flushed an adorable shade of pink. “Just wondering, it’s not quite what I had expected after you know when you broke into her locker.” Ouch. Is that what he thinks!?! That I’m some kind of maniac of some sort?

“Well I didn’t break into her locker it was a mix up. And we’ve become closer these few days...” I said, letting my voice hang in the air a little too keep the conversation going. “Oh” he said with a smile. “Well I really have to get going see you on Monday?” “sure.” I responded trying not to sound eager even though I was waiting for our next encounter, and counting the minutes until I’ll see him again.

On my way to Morgan’s I was talking to my mom and she was telling me how proud she was of me, that I just need to hang in there and be strong. I never knew how happy she would be that I made friends. I just hope I can keep them…

When I arrived at Morgan’s all the girls were already there and having what looked like to be a major gossip session. I waved bye too my mom and greeted my FRIENDS it’s just so fun to be able to say that! FRIENDS FRIENDS FRIENDS!

Later in the night it was about 9:00 and we were in Morgan’s room on her phone making prank calls. Ha-ha good times.

After that, Brit suggested we play truth or dare. I’ve never really played before so I wasn’t quite sure what to think. Emily was dared to go jump and scream on Morgan’s trampoline. It was 10:30 at night and the neighbors could be asleep. I thought to myself. But o well! She did it, it was hilarious and the neighbors even called to complain.!

“Okay kaylyn. Truth or dare.” “umm truth?” I asked unsure. “We know you haven’t really been here that long but who do you LIKE?”  Morgan asked. The question hung in the air like a cloud. I don’t know how to respond, but I guess I might as well tell the truth. “I guess I’m not really sure I haven’t gotten to know anybody that well yet.” “But if I had to choooooseee I guess I’d pick...Connor Kennedy.

The room went silent, and as I tried to read their expressions all I got was shocked, stunned, and HIGHLY irritated. (Morgan).  “wh-why are you guys looking at me like that?” “”We-“Emily started but Morgan cut her off. “I used to like him.” “Used too?” Brit sneered. “And he “used” to like me.” Morgan stated. “I’m sorry I didn’t know he was off limits. Forget I said anything.” I said regretfully.

They stared at me blankly. “LOOK, it’s totally fine but you might have to live with seeing girls flirt with him and him flirting back, he’s a great guy one of my best friends but, Also the most liked guy in the grade. And I sort of like him...” admitted Morgan. “Me too.” Emily said shyly. “Let’s call him!” Brit said.

Inside I was honestly eager to call him but a part of me felt like this could end in a disaster.
