Name: Hotaru Uchiumi
Appearance: Slim, short light brown hair (looks like Yoruichi's hair in flashbacks), big brown eyes with orange flecks, as is usual a fairly large chest (although still smaller than Orihime's or Rangiku's), 5'2"
Background: Birthday is October 8th, from District #5 of West Rukongai, which basically means her life after death was rather luxurious and free of crime, in Soul Society had a Mother and Father and two brothers. Since she became a Shinigami, she has had no contact with her old family.
Central Spirit Technique Institute (aka the Death God Academy): Was not admitted into the top class, although showing proficient skills in swordsmanship and in kidou. Although she was from an upper-class district, she was one of the few in her class to accept Kuchiki Rukia for being from worse conditions. She was a classmate of Rukia's and one of the only people Rukia really got close to while at the Academy.
Thirteen Court Guardian Squads: She was initially put into the 5th Division, unseated, under Aizen and Ichimaru and later moved to an unseated position under Kuchiki Byakuya in 6th Division. Over the years, she's managed through much hard work and determination to work up to 3rd seat. She has an intense competition with Abarai Renji, since she is vying for the spot he is currently in, yet they have a friendly and courteous interaction with each other (she met him through Rukia while at the Academy).
Zanpakuto (aka Soul Slayer): Called Garyuu (which means "Dragon's Fang"). In its initial form it looks like any other soul slayer, an average length katana. The handle is a deep red. In its released form, Garyuu transforms into a long, serrated chain whip with the handle wrapped in a deep red cloth. Thin spindrels of flame radiate outwards from the hilt and spin along the length of the whip. At the end of the whip is a device like a pinwheel, each petal a hooked blade. Its spirit is a large, fire-breathing dragon with a huge spiked tail (used like a whip). [**Her Bankai will be revealed during the story**]
