Running

I don't care if people judge me

When they see me walking

Breathing hard up the street.

I don't care if they think I'm out of shape

Or lazy

For slowing after a half mile sprint.

Because they don't know

That I just ran

Three miles.

The wind in my hair

And music in my ears

As I hear the steady pace of my feet below me.

Running takes me away from the world

Even through the pain

Of exertion

So let them judge.

Let them make up their minds

Before knowing

Because in the end

They are only  hurting

Themselves.
