Chapter 1
The Offer
I glared at the man in my way as I stalked out of the bar door, heading for my car.
"Move." I grunted.
He obliged.
I smirked to myself. Of course he would listen to me, people fear me. Not just because of what I'm wearing (my black belt that's made of black cloth. Not like I'm a ninja or anything.) but also because I'm five feet six, about as tall as any man out there. My legs are most of my body, almost three feet long. I have long brown wavy hair that everyone envys. I wear a lot of black when I go to work at the bar, for that's just the enviorment, dark and, well, black. But when I'm not working, I wear all different stuff, depending on my mood.
I walk across the street a ways until I arive at Shilo Inn and Suites near where my car is parked. I step into the nice lobby and head for the back exit, I wanted to cut some time. I can't help but snort.
Rich people lounged on comfortable contemporary-colored couches, reading gossip magazines and criticizing the actions of the richer and famous.
I stalked across the short room as fast as I could to aviod those cruel glares they give me. Snobs and their pessimistic glares continued to follow me as I walked towards the exit.
Geez, if looks could kill...
Finally, I open the exit door which led to the outside ally making me closer to my vehicle. A few more blocks and I'de be in the safty of my car, away from the mellow couches, skinny gorgeous heires's and the smell of alcohol.
If I cared enough, I would have closed the door as fast as possible to shield the people inside from the bitter cold. Instead, with a smirk to myself, I made a grand show about going as slow as I could. Cold air flooded in and wrapped around the occupants of the room. Several more "innocent" victims glared at me with more passion and shivered themselves.
I wheeled out the door as fast as my legs could go because I think I saw a big man getting up to follow me and I'm paraniod about those things.
I shivered. White snow lined the sides of the sidewalks. New York City's bright lights taunted me until I realized how long I had been working in the bar.
My teeth chattering, while I made my way down Forty-second street to where my car was parked. To cut more time, I stalked through another alleyway. Not really the smartest thing to do at eleven at night, but it did cut time and I was bone-tired.
That's when I thought I saw movement by the dumpster. I decided to ignore it. All I wanted to do is get home. Walking a little faster, I suddenly was stopped when something grasped my shoulder then slipped it's hand over my mouth. I tried to scream but couldn't. Then, reaching for my handbag I realized it wasn't there anymore. OK so maybe I wasn't getting kidnapped like I thought, Maybe I was getting robbed! I didn't care what was happening, all I wanted to do is cause some pain.
So I retaliated. I grabbed the arm holding my shoulder and threw it forward, throwing the man over me. The man landed on the ground with a sickening crunch, releasing his hold on my purse and me. I smiled.
"Thank you" I said with a nod.
Then grabbing my purse, I started turning to leave but he caught me off gaurd and jumped on me, knocking me to the ground.
"No way buddy." I gasped.
I pushed with all my upper body strength to throw the man off me. It was just enough. He landed by the dumpster not able to move a muscle.
