Chapter 20

LONDON'S POV

Wave after wave of energy reverberated around the walls of the underground arena. I sat,my eyes rooted to the spectacle before me. Ella is on the offensive,her hands moving gracefully as she casted spell after spell,barrage after barrage of dark energy balls at Grandmaster Nat. Grandmaster Nat,on the other hand,is on the defensive,summoning the Earth from beneath him and forming it into a column of hardened walls to absorb the impact of the dark energy bombs.

I glanced at Henry,amused. His eyes were shining and he looked excited.

"How's it going kid?"

"This is awesome."

"Well duh,its not everyday that you get to see a pro fighting another pro."

"Ella isn't exactly a pro."

"Well,you're lucky she can't hear you."

"I HEARD THAT!" Ella screamed as she shot another ball of dark energy that is a little bigger than her previous dark energy balls. The dark energy ball that she had just shot at Grandmaster Nat looked like a beast filled with frustration and anger.

"Why does she get all sensitive when you don't acknowledge her skills?" Henry asked rhetorically.

I shrugged.

"Don't know,perhaps she's used to all the attention from Thesla and Layla. They compliment her,give her flying kisses,pats on the back,claps now and then. The attention given to her probably made her turn out this way."

"So basically,you're saying she's spoiled?"

"Spoiled? No way! She's not a non-living thing. She can't be spoiled Henry. Be sensible."

"No,I don't mean that kind of spoiled..."

"Then what do you mean?"

"Nevermind."

I continued looking at Ella. "This is getting boring." I thought.

As if by magic,Grandmaster Nat knew what I had been thinking in my mind and smirked. I suddenly felt the rise of magical energy around him and tensed. The ground vibrated from beneath my feet and the air smelt faintly of sulfur. He raised his hand high above his head and smashed it hard onto the ground.

"Crater." He uttered a single word. The ground beneath Ella started to sink deeper and deeper,slowly forming a large hole. Ella noticed this too and quickly reacted.

"Balance " She chanted and where the ground below her had formed a hole,Ella stood in mid-air,hovering above the crater that had formed. I wiped a sweat that had recently formed on my brow away and heaved a sigh of relief. That had been intense. My heart continued beating from the sheer magnitude of that force from Grandmaster Nat which created the crater.

Henry looked visibly surprised too. Who wouldn't? That sudden increase in power would have caused shock to anyone within a 100 meter radius.

Now,what would happen next?

Ella stood,mid-air,still. She remained in her position for a long time. Grandmaster Nat also stood in his position,not moving a single muscle as he stared at Ella smugly.

Then,the ground beneath Ella erupted and two rock pillars pierced Ella's stomach. I immediately clasped my mouth with both hands in horror,my body tensed forward,my legs jutting out from the spectators seat as I stared at her,wide-eyed. Henry looked like a mess too,his earlier neutral position now replaced by that of a policeman staring with wide-eyed horror at a messy crime scene.

I gazed at Grandmaster Nat. His eyes were gleaming,shining and sparkling in the darkness of the arena.

"You cast an extra spell didn't you?" I inquired. He looked at me disinterestedly and shrugged.
