I had been here for 3 days now and I couldn't help but felt bad that I was making my parents worried. They must be really worried that I still wasn't well and not home. And then I wondered whether Mom would blame Jayson - especially because she was mad and said that Jayson was the caused I had the accidents.

I was also wondering, how was Jayson. Did he look for me? Was he thinking of me - whether I had a shelter or food, just whether I was safe or not.

I went out of the room a few times a day when Anne asked me out for food. Other than that, I didn't go out to mingle or anything because I didn't think I have to. I'd find myself rude but I still needed my time to think.

I was just about to get onto the bed, after my lunch when I heard some talking at the outside of my door. I couldn't put together what those people outside were saying because one of them was whispering while the other was talking quite loudly, which sounded like begging - and it made the topic of the conversation vague to me.

"Please please! Let me in!"

"I can't."

"I need to see her."

"Alpha I'm..."

"I am going to see her!"

And with that last phrase being said, the door to my room burst open. I was startled by both the loud bang sound that the door made as well as by the one who caused it.

It couldn't be him. It couldn't be Jayson. But then he said my name so longingly and I couldn't deny that it was him. He stood there at the door with bruised lips and there were streaks of blood from his left eyebrows. Even his face looked dirty. What had happened?

"Promise," he said as he looked at me. Behind him was both Anne and her mate, the Alpha. I looked at Anne who had a guilty face on. Did she call him over?

"Promise," Jayson said again and took a step closer.

"Stop right there," I said quickly. I didn't want him to come any closer. I was terrified of the things that he could do.

"Why Promise? What did I do? Why didn't you tell me that we... we are mates? You knew I had been waiting for my mate so why didn't you step forward? Why did you run away after we kissed? Why are you doing this, Promise?" Jayson bombed me with questions. He was frowning. He looked like he was about to cry and it made me feel guilty but I had my reasons.

"Please tell me Promise. I'll change, I'll change for the better for you," Jayson added.

"I...I wasn't ready to have a mate and I didn't want to ruin what you and Leah was having," I managed to choke out.

"Then why didn't you tell me when Leah and I were over?" Jayson asked quickly and took a step closer which I stopped him again.

"Stop right there Jayson! There are many other reasons. Look at you! You're the Alpha! I'm just the pack's maid. We don't go well together Jayson. I won't be a good Luna for you and the pack. I'm not capable of anything!"

"Is that one of the reasons why you didn't want me? I'll change for you, Promise. I'll withdraw from being the Alpha," Jayson stated. He was still frowning and I could tell that he was dead-serious.

"Alpha Jayson," Anne's mate interrupted, "I suggest you not to take things too drastic. You've just had some fights. You're still tired and you're weak. The only thing that is holding you up now is your Alpha's blood. You might become worse if you are to withdraw your tittle now."

"There's no point with being strong when my mate don't want to be with me," Jayson said and I felt my heart breaking at that. And what was that that Anne's mate was talking about? Some fights? Who did Jayson fought with? Why was he actually looking so weak?

"Alpha Jayson," this time it was Anne who called but Jayson ignored her and quickly recite what he wanted to do.

"I...Jayson Cowper," Jayson started and at the same time I heard Anne's voice behind Jayson, talking to me.

"Stop him, Promise! He's not in very good condition! He could die if he withdraw from his tittle!"

"Stop him, Promise! Stop him!"

"...would like to withdraw my position as..." I didn't let Jayson continue. I didn't know what was happening. Yes I ran away from my mate. Yes, I was still terrified of him. But the thought of him dying was enough to make me die along with him and I knew that I definitely didn't want him to die.

I lunged to him and caught him by surprise. His sentence hanged halfway and the moment I jumped on him, he couldn't balance the both of us and fell straight to the ground.

The next thing I heard was Anne calling for the doctor because Jayson has fainted.

I was back in Torn Sunset Pack, in my very own bed in my very own room except that everything felt different. I felt like I was falling apart. Everything wasn't right at all and nothing could be.

I couldn't believe he was dead. Why did he have to go first? We didn't even manage to spend enough time together with each other and now I had to know that he was gone.

I wanted to turn to someone and if possible, my mother but she too was in sorrow.

What exactly happened? Why did he die? Nobody explained anything to me. They just basically told me that he had died.

Lying down on the bed that I've missed, although not as much as I've missed him, I started crying thinking of how much of time I have wasted not spending with him.

"Promise?" I heard someone called and shook my shoulder. Opening my eyes, I saw a blur version of Jayson. I still didn't know how I should face him but I decided that I didn't have time to think about that because I was still very upset to learn about my dad's death.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up on the bed, "Jayson."

"Are you okay Promise?" He asked, concerned. I looked at him. He was sitting on the floor, crossed leg. His injuries on the face had been nursed and didn't look half as bad as when he was White Depths pack.

"I don't know," I told him and couldn't help but ask about him, "Are you okay?"

"I'm feeling better now that I've seen you," he admitted and looked straight into my eyes. I quickly looked away, not ready to look at him the way he was looking at me.

It was silent for a minute before Jayson called me again. "Promise... Are we..."

I know he wanted to ask about us but I still wasn't ready, maybe not gonna ever be ready. So I cut him off, "How did my dad die Jayson?"

And as I asked, I couldn't help the tears streaming down my face. I heard Jayson sighed loudly and then he reached both of his thumb up and wiped my tears which didn't help much because they kept coming.

"It was Jenna. She was still mad and jealous about you and Bernard. And she insisted of going shopping by herself. She didn't drive. She was walking. Apparently there was a group of rogue who wanted to shoot an arrow to deer nearby but before the arrow hit, the deer had ran away but the arrow went straight to your dad whom wanted to take cover for Jenna. It went straight to his back and pierced through the heart and his chest," Jayson explained and I winced. An arrow went straight through Dad's body. I cried even harder.

"I am very sorry about your Dad, Promise. I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have put him out for petrol that day, I'm sorry. Please, forgive me!" Jayson said. He was now on his knees in front of me, both hands squeezing mine and us both had tears streaming down our faces. I looked at him, feeling sorry for him too because he was blaming himself.

But I couldn't find the words to console him as much as I couldn't console myself. I only managed to return his hand squeeze before slowly leaning to his shoulder and let my eyes bawl.
