STELLA’S POV

The lights were too dim.

I made a made a note in my mind that the the lights should be changed  to go with the enormous Van Der Graff  hallroom as I watched as Alanna Van Der Graff, my current client,  survey the setting for her reception carefully. Well, as careful as the nineteen year old heiress could be.

“Can I have shower of petals as soon as I enter the hall?” she screeched out in her in her overly cheery voice.

How her fiancé put up with her, was beyond my imagination. He must be out of his mind.

“And here we go again!” I muttered.

“What did you say?” She said, narrowing her eyes at me, as her voice climbed up an octave.

“I said that’s not suitable. You already have a petal shower at the wedding.” I explained.  Since the last four months, when I first got an offer to plan the wedding of Simon Van Der Graff’s only daughter, Alanna had been making crazy demands like these. There was this one time, when she wanted a hot chocolate fountain. That was alright, but then she dropped the bomb by saying she needed a small chocolate statue of her and her husband-to-be in the hot chocolate fountain. She clearly did not study even the basics of chemistry. Or common sense, for that matter.

Even though her father had high standards which I was expected to meet, her daughter’s demands made me want to drop everything and run for the hills. She was the stereotype young, blonde heiress. In fact, the similarities between her and Paris Hilton plain creeped me out.

Yep. Definitely out of his mind.

I turned to Alanna, who was looking at me as if I’d just killed her puppy.  I didn’t know how what to say to that, so I just turned back as if I hadn’t seen her.

Rita, a big burly one of the several maids entered with a loud bang. “ Your grandmother’s here. And she demands to see you urgently. I’ll warn you though, she looks ready to eat your head with new gossip.”

“I was about to leave anyway.” I turned to my assistant and told her to fix up the lighting as I picked up my bag and waved at Alanna, who was now now busy filing her nails. So typical of her.

“Hey Gran!” I kissed my grandmom on her cheek, but she just ignored my greeting as she bounced on spot, which is really funny for a seventy year old grey haired woman.

“Aidan’s getting married, darling! And he and his fiancé want you to plan their wedding! I haven’t met the girl yet, but Aidan’s been going on about since her since he returned today morning. She sounds like such a sweetheart!”

“What?!” Okay. That was too much to process. Something along the lines of Aidan getting married. Hah! That was the joke of the century. Aidan, the shy guy, who needed me to sit at a nearby table during a date. Aidan, who hasn’t  gone on a date in the past year. Aidan, my bestfriend. Was getting married?! That was impossible to believe.

“What’s this new joke? If Aidan was getting married, which is not possible, I would be the first person to know, even before his fiancé. Prank fail, Gran!”

“Oh Stella!” She sighed dramatically. “Of course he wanted to tell you first! But you see, with international calls being so expensive, and it being such a thing that could not be conveyed by mail, he couldn’t tell you sooner. He wanted to call you today, but you know how your phoned is switched off  during work.”

This is crazy, and extremely random. It’s like someone coming and telling you that you’re the princess of Geneva, with a really long name. Okay, not exactly similar to that situation.

For as long as I can remember, it was Aidan, grandma and I. Aidan’s parents were drunkards completely into themselves and I wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t know they had a son. So, when he was a small child, he walked out of their home blindly following any route. When granny saw a small adorable boy with dimples passed out on our porch, she concluded that it was god’s decision. It was great, because she gained a grandson  she never had, and I got the best friend ever.

And now he was getting married. To whom, I had no idea. And I bet he didn’t either.

Grandma started elaborating when she saw me in deep thought. “Her name’s  Anna and she sounds lovely. He met her in Hawaii, and knew she was the one. That’s where they are getting married, and you, my dear, are going to be the planner!”

What kind of person gets married to someone he’s known for less than a week? Aidan, of course. Out of all the idiotic things he has ever done, this just blew it off. This was worse than when he lost my pet hamster. He knew I would cut his balls off, so he bought a new one that looked exactly the same, except he didn’t have a spot near his eye.  I knew it was not Mr Teddy  because when I came home home, he ran up to me instead of running away from me. And the spot rubbed off.

Yeah. Aidan had spray painted it. Douche.

Gran was still blabbering when she saw my sullen expression. “Don’t sulk Stella! He wanted to tell you first, but he was tired, and needed some rest since he was so airplane lagged.”

“Jetlagged, ma!” Trust grandma to guess the reason that’s entirely different from the real one.

I hadn’t even realized that gran had started walking away. “How are you going home?” I screamed as she was speedwalking away from me.

She turned and looked at me as if I had four eyes. “You are going home in your car and me in mine. The same way we came. See you soon. By the way, Anna is coming home day after!”

Woah! Why? Why was bridezilla coming home?  I knew I had no right to say that, since I hadn’t even met her,but I couldn’t help it, Aiden was very special to me. I wasn’t willing to share.

I walked to my car slowly, my thoughts swirling around his past relationships. None of them lasted long. By long I mean two months, tops. He was never really into dating. So how did a guy like Aidan ask someone to marry him so soon? I know. He was out of his bloody mind!

I leaned back on the headrest, analyzing the day. A couple of hours back, Alanna’s  tantrums were my biggest problem. Life can’t get any worse, I’d thought. And then life had proven its ability to take rhetorical statements seriously.

At least someone is satisfied. Alanna’s wedding was planned. And normally moved  on to my next client. Which was probably, but I sincerely hoped not , was Aidan.

Talk about out of the blue. My grandmother just told me my best friend since forever is getting married. Without telling me. More like without checking with me if I was okay with him getting  married to some bimbo. A week is not enough to know someone.

And Aidan was going to get that drilled into his brain.

Hey everybody!

This is my first story on wattpad, so please tell me if I should continue writing. Feel free to point out flaws and give me suggestions, since that would be great help. Next chapter has a lot of Noah’s point of view.

I’ll be waiting for your comments.
