CHAPTER SIX

"I'm keeping you company tonight, is that okay?" Neri made himself comfortable in my bed.

"Don't be silly. you basically trespass at everything. The only thing you haven't done yet is barge in while I'm taking a shower." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Hmmm.. now that's an idea! Remind me next time you do." He made a serious face. But I am aware of the fact that he's trying to diffuse the negativity.

"EEEEWWW! PERV! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!!" I squealed. going with the flow.  I tried to kick him out of my bed but he caught my feet.

"Peach! Don't you think that'll only make our bond stronger? Think of it as another secret we'll share!" He mock argued. Holding my hand firmly and staring at my eyes intently as though trying to make me realize something very omportant. What a very disturbed and twisted man. ACK.

"Do you hear yourself talking? It's GROSS, I tell you. Really gross! If you do that, say good bye to your eyeballs. I'll gauge them out and put them in a barbecue stick or something..."

"That's brutal!" He said, still not letting it go. "You are so full of malice, you should be ashamed of yourself! What's wrong with me accidentally barging in on you naked and taking a shower?"

"Accidentally? Really? With you, nothing is accidental! And you think nothing's wrong? News flash: You're a boy, I'm a girl!!"

"Really? Girl? " he asked incredously. "That really is news to me!"

"WHY YOU --- of course I'm a girl, you piece of shit, Your logic os so wrong in so many levels. GET OUT!" I tried kicking him again but my efforts were in vain.

Neri laughed and I threw a pillow. We chuckled a little bit then it died down.

Dead air.

"Have you been having a lot of those recently?" He asked me quietly. We were both lying in my bed, side by side, just staring at the ceiling. I knew what he meant.

"No, it was just today." And even if I thought I could run away from it forever, nothing could have prepared me for it, I thought to myself.

"Were you having thoughts of it lately? What could have brought this on?" He pressed. To be honest, I have no idea. His questions are the same questions I ask myself. Indeed, what could have brought this on?

"You know how much I'd rather not dwell on that. I didn't want to remember anything about that, possibly, forever. You know the lengths I went through just to be able to wrench myself away from..." I could not finish my sentence, I just stared out at the ceiling.

"Sorry, doctor in the house." Neri sighed. "I had to ask details."

"I know. You're asking a doctor, too." I sighed too.

For how long did we both stare at nothingness and stayed silent, I do not know. Neri's soft snores later on made me conscious that I could not sleep. I closed my eyes, but I'm still hyperaware of my surroundings. Darn.

"Berry..." I nudged him gently.

"Hmmm?" He answered without opening his eyes.

"I can't sleep."
