I was standing in the pouring rain, watching the cars go by. My orange hair looked brown and my makeup was running. My clothes were soaked and my shoes were soggy. I had cash in my back pocket for a cab but it was soaked so I started my long walk back to my house. I was with my friend earlier that day walking around a shopping plaza when her mom called and said her brother was in the hospital. We only had one car with us so I told her to take it and wished her luck. She said, "I'll be there until late at night. How will you get home?" I replied with a shrug and told her I would be okay because my house wasn't very far. After she left I was alone, and like in any sad movie, it started to rain. I sat on the curb of the parking lot for a while just watching people huddle under umbrellas, and make their way into shops and restaurants. I wondered just how bad I looked sitting on the curb with my chin resting on my hands. I finally thought about taking a cab home, but having sat in a puddle, my cash was soaked and no longer in the form of money. So I got up and started my five mile walk home in the rain that showed no sign of stopping. I was walking down the sidewalk with my arms folded when there was a screeching sound close by. I looked behind me and there was an enormous black SUV skidding out of control directly toward me. My eyes widened and my heart started racing. All I could do was close my eyes and hope to not die. As my life was flashing before my eyes, I saw something in my peripheral vision hurdling at me. Next thing I knew, everything went black.
