Everyone has two parents, right? I know not everyone gets to live or meet them but you still have two. Well for me I only met my mom when I was born. My mom immediately dropped my arse onto my dads doorstep and fled the scene. Now from what I've heard she was a loving women and wanted kids. I guess she just didn't want a kid with my dad. The thing is my dad is a normal guy he just likes men. Yeah I know its a completely taboo thing even though its just a preference. And I guess my mom wasn't at peace with my dads conclusion on his sexuality. It being the year of 2015 yeah that stuff still is not really accepted. We get away with it though. If anyone asks about my dads boyfriend, Tod we just simply say he's a family friend. My dad, Henry doesn't seem affected to much about being in hiding. Yet he does have on problem. That would be pride. He loves america so much he's going to risk his butt for it. Literally today he sat me and Tod down and explained how he was signing up to be part of the navy. Sometimes I get really mad at him and this was one of those occasions. Then as a double whammy he said he was moving our family to New York even though we currently lived in Connecticut.

I sit in my back yard now. Looking at the trees sway with the cool breeze. The sun warmed my face as I thought about leaving. Me being a blue eyed, curly black haired, 16 year old girl of course I was wondering what would happen to me moving into a major city. We wear moving to NYC its self. How fun. I pulled my self up and fixed my clothes. Since we lived out in the country at the moment I felt free and not confined. That changes now I guess. I didn't really have any friends. I was home schooled and had bigger ideas than I was supposed have, in some sexist points of view. I walked back over to my large country house and pulled open the back door. I smelt Tod's cooking and knew they were trying to butter me up since I could smell my favorite soup being made. I jogged up stairs and into my room. After packing some more I was finally done. I didn't have very much to pack. I plopped down onto my bed and pulled out my leather bound sketchbook and my new charcoal pencils. I was in the middle of drawing our family together which I am supposedly really good at drawing when My dad yells up "Adrienne Kelly get down her or I'll feed the dog your food." I giggled a bit at the statement as I shoved my book under my pillow and made my way down stairs. Once I set foot in the vaulted dinning room I could tell there was something to be discussed. I sat down on the right side of the table when they sat at opposite heads. "We need to get you a whole new wardrobe when we get to the city." Tod said. "As long as you're paying for it it." I said playfully. "Of course!" My dad said pretending he was hurt. We all laughed. "Well I'll be leaving for the army in four days and tomorrow we'll be moving so its gonna be a eventful couple of days." Dad added. After a conversation about different subjects we finished dinner and made our way to the living room. Dad and Tod sat down for a smoke as I practiced the piano trying to distract my self from the inevitable change that's about to occur.

That morning was hectic. My dads ran around frantically trying to guide the movers with our stuff. I sat amongst the mess in our car. I finished a drawing in my book. I was wearing my black nirvana long sleeve and ripped skinny jeans with my doc martans. After everything was packed into the moving truck my dads got into the car and we started on our way to a new life in NYC.

The trip was a peaceful for the most part 4 hour drive. When we pulled in I was buzzing with excitement accompanied by butterflies in my stomach. My dads explained during the car ride how I was enrolled into a school. So that is going to be a first but I'll start after two days. We pulled up to an apartment complex in the nicer part of town. It was a grand building on the inside. Tapestries hung from the golden wallpapered walls and crystal light fixtures gracefully hovered as they were held up on the ceiling. Multiple gentlemen were exceptionally nice to me which was odd because I haven't really met someone that wasn't family or family friends. Some were even decent looking. I asked the landlord whom was expecting our arrival. I believe they dressed up since my dad and Tod were well know scientists. "Welcome! Welcome!" The slightly chubby bearded man said. He reminded me of Santa Claus and he had a Italian accent. "Nice to meet you." I say reaching to shake his out stretched hand. He handed me our key. "I'm glad we have another family moving here! We only have mine and two others." He said and laughed. "Even a young man around your age!" He boasted. "I'll have to meet him then." I say with a warm smile. I walked over to what I assumed was an elevator. I opened the door and pulled back the black safety fence and was soon followed by my dads. We all stuffed our selves into the machine and hit the button for the third floor. There was three floors and I assumed two families per floor with the exception of the first floor for it was the parlor, entrance, and main lobby rolled into one. We shared the third floor with the DiCaprios. There was two doors opposite of each other one wit a sign engraved with the number 3 and the other being 4. I looked at the key chain it had a 3 on it. I placed the key into the slot and turned. With a click the door swung open. A grand but empty room was presented in front of my eyes. My dads pushed me aside to make room for the movers, many men filled the room. Our stuff soon occupied the room and other rooms at that. The workers soon finished and left after my dad paid them. I flopped down on our wrapped couch as my dads started unboxing. "Don't just sit there! Socialize!" Tod said to me. "Okay, okay!" I retorted.

I made my way back to the slightly ajar door and pulled it open to reveal the hallway once more. I heard some muffled voices emit from the other apartment. Soon after their door was pulled open. A tall boy stood in the door frame. He wore a long sleeve black shirt and black ripped skinny jeans with black vans. His dark hair with bright blonde highlights was breath taking and his blue eyes were piercing. His gaze immediately fell to meet mine. "Hi." He mumbled out. "I have somewhere to be but I'll talk to you when I get back" he said quietly. "See you then." I replied happily. What just happening thought to myself after the mystery boy vanished into the elevator. I felt something towards him. I didn't understand the sensation. I've never felt it before. I have no idea. I made my way back inside to a half unpacked home. Man do they work fast. After we got for the most part the entire household unpacked Tod offered to take us out to eat and then to go shopping. We all headed down stairs and made our way to where we parked the car. We filled up on gas and then found a quant little place to dine. It was a Chinese place. After stuffing ourselves we made our way to the shops. At the end of the night I felt as if I learned more in the few hours I've lived in new York than my entire life. This experience defiantly opened my eyes to my different cultures and an entire new wardrobe. When we got home we all fell into the embrace of the couch putting the bags and boxes of clothes aside. It was midnight now and I was tired so I walked to the smaller room which was deemed my room. I stripped off my jeans then climbed into bed due to being worn out. New York wasn't that bad.
