My best friend, Luna, and I were standing at our lockers getting our stuff to go home.

Luna kicked me, “Hey Iz. Connor is looking at you again.”

I glared at her while I rubbed my ankle. “Shut up Lou, that fucking hurt,” I hissed.

“He’s coming over,” She said smirking.

“Then I’m leaving,” I stood up but when I turned around I found myself face to face with Connor.

“Hey Isobel,” He said in a half whisper.

I narrowed my eyes at him, “Can I help you?”

“I was wondering if you were coming to the party tonight.”

I rolled my eyes, “Not likely.”

He stepped closer to me and wound one of my blonde curls around his finger. I smacked his hand away and he laughed.

“I’ll see you around Iz,” He winked and then walked slowly back to his friends.

I slammed my locker shut and crossed my arms, suddenly in a bad mood.

“What are you playing at?” Luna stared at me.

I frowned, “I’m not playing at anything.”

“You’re playing his game,” she said gently. “You know he’s trouble.”

“Ya, I know. That’s exactly why I don’t want to talk to him.”

She shrugged, “Well we are going tonight, so good luck with that.”

“Says who! I am NOT going.”

“Yes you are,” Luna pouted. “It’s the biggest party of the year.”

I sighed heavily, “Ugh fine. But you owe me big time.”

“Yay!” She linked arms with me and pulled me out of the school. “We will go straight to my house to get ready. You can borrow some of my clothes.”

I couldn’t help but smile and being the weird people that we are, I joined in as she skipped home.

I stood in front of the mirror with Luna. Luna had straightened my curly, blonde hair and it reached half way down my back. She had kept makeup simple, lining my brown eyes with a black flick and red on my lips. I was dressed in light blue high waisted shorts and a white lace tank top paired with black and gold gladiator sandals. Luna pinned her shoulder length brown hair half up and her green eyes popped with the black liner. She was wearing a black playsuit with coral sandals.

She grinned at me, “Ready?”

“I suppose so,” I mumbled and she laughed and then dragged my downstairs.

“Bye mum!” She called as we dodged past the kitchen to the front door.

“Wait just a second,” Luna’s mum, Charlotte, peaked her head out of the kitchen. “Where are you beautiful ladies off to?”

“We’re going to a party, I told you that this morning.”

Charlotte smiled at us, “Well have fun and if you drink too much or get in any trouble, give me a call and I’ll be there no questions asked.”

“Mum!” Luna groaned and I laughed. Charlotte was the coolest mum I knew and I had been basically adopted since I spent most of the time at Luna’s house.

We gave Charlotte a hug and then escaped out the front door. The air was warm, as summer was coming, but there was a small breeze so we hurried down the few blocks to the party.
