I wake up in his warm embrace and sigh, why do I have to leave today? I untangle him from my waist and slowly get dressed, not bothering with make up or hair. I look at my love sleeping so peacefully, smiling about God knows what. I smile as I call a cab and leave the suitcase by the door.
I begin to write a note to Patrick in hopes he'll be ok.
I leave it on the bed side and sit criss cross next to him on the bed.
"I'm going to miss you, but I need this, for me, for you. I hope you'll still love me when I come back, God I hope you do because I will never stop loving you." I hear the cab horn beep and let tears fall, "goodbye Patrick, I love you." I kiss his forehead and walk to the door and pick up my suitcase and close the house door."Ma'am, you alright?" I nod and step into the cab and watch as rain poors down on the life I once knew.
