Kokoro

Chapter One: Welcome to Beacon

Walking on the paved ground, I stare at the marvelous school. Its architecture was magnificent. This moment of peace lasted until fell on my stomach from a heavy something of my back.

"Found you~!" says the thing. This 'thing' happens to be my best friend, Navy Blue. Her name is a bit clichéd if you ask me. She sits up on my back. "I can't believe we're actually here! Beacon Academy!" She keeps babbling until I get the oxygen to speak up.

"Get-off-me!" I wheezed out. She gives a 'whoopsie!' and gets off, holding out her hand. I grab it and she pulls me up. We walk into the building with the other students and stare at the empty stage. Everyone goes quiet once we see the headmaster near the mic.

"I'll...keep this brief" started the headmaster, Ozpin. "You have traveled here today in search of knowledge--to hone your craft and acquire new skills--and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose--direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." I... actually liked his speech. Ya, it probably lowered a bunch of the students' self-esteem, but it delivered a good message. Ozpin's right-hand woman, Glynda Goodwitch, came up to the mic as Ozpin walks away.

"You will gather in the ballroom tonight" she starts. "Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed". This got my blood running. I was excited to kick some ass. Literally.

--------Time skip brought to you by Ruby exploding in front of the school with fire, and I think some ice--------

I lay my sleeping bag down by Navy's. Right now, she was talking to a girl with short orange hair that seemed equally as hyper as her. I smile as I look at her. We've known each other since we were in diapers. Navy runs over and slips into her sleeping bag.

"G'night!" she says. I give a little laugh and reply with a goodnight. I still don't get how she can sleep so fast and stay asleep. I hear talking. I look towards the area by a book shelf and see three girls. One was with black/red hair, one with blonde hair, and the one sitting down had black hair.

"As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!" said the one with black/red hair.

"That's very ambitious for a child" commented the girl with the black hair. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."

"Well, that's why we're here. To make it better."

"ohh!" exclaimed the blonde. "I'm so proud of my baby sister!" She hugged her and reddish-head tried plying her off. My heart melts at this conversation.

"Cut it out!"  I walk up to them.

"That is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever heard" I say and the all look at me. "Im Kokoro Kuro, but Koko is fine."

"Yang" said the blonde. "and this is my little sister, Ruby". She gestured to the younger girl next to her.

"I'm Blake" said the girl with the bow and book. Blake and I stare at the quarreling sisters. "Ruby, Yang, it's a-"

"What is the world is going on over here?!" cut in another voice. I look at the source, which was a girl with REALLY long white hair and an ice blue nightgown. "Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?!" She looks at Ruby and Yang looks at her.

"Oh not you again!' Yang and the girl said in sync. I look at the two in panic for two reasons. We forgot that people ARE trying to sleep and they were yelling while people are trying to sleep. We might wake someone up!

"Sh!" hushed Ruby. "Guys, she's right. People are trying to sleep."

"Oh, now you're on my side?" sassed the girl.

"I was always on your side!"

"Guys!" I cut in. "Yelling is not helping this situation". I look at Blake and see that she was obviously not in the mood to read anymore. She picked up her candle stand and blew out the candles. We all went to our perspective sleeping bags and slipped into them. I need to be ready for tomorrow. Welcome to Beacon.

I am so sorry I haven't written in a while. I've been busy. Navy Blue is actually my sister's RWBY OC, just to put that out. For those who didn't know, "Kokoro" means "heart or spirit" in Japanese. So ya.
