Em slowly woke up to a blinding light as her bedroom curtains revealed the morning sun.
"Shit" she thought as memories of school began to make their through her head. She hurriedly changed into her school uniform while attempting to brush her hair.
"One more knot and I'm done" Em said and she ran into the kitchen. Only then did she realise the strange silence. Growing up with 3 brothers all older than 16 she certainly wasn't used to silence.
She made her way to her parents room wondering if they too had slept in. As she turned the handle to peek inside she saw that the covers were messy but no one was in them. Her mum never left the house with a messy bed.
Getting worried she began to sprint down the road towards her neighbours house and knocked on the door. No answer. She slid through the back door and briefly checked all the rooms.
Her two neighbours were an elderly couple who didn't get out much so it was very out of character for them not to be home.
She ran home, her mind a mess and clearly scared.
"What is going on?" She muttered quietly. "What do i do?"
