"Whatchya doin'?" Joy asked as she entered the bedroom. Her older sister, Marian, laid on the bottom bunk bed, a pen and paper in her hand, and shojo manga scattered across the mattress.
"What does it look like?"
"I don't know. Are you writing a book?"
"What? No, I'm writing a letter,"
"What's with all the books then?"
"Inspiration," She answered. Joy looked at her, confused.
"Ugh, never mind, you wouldn't understand,"
"Understand what? Who are you writing to?" Marian was starting to get annoyed by all of Joy's questions. She knew what she was doing was probably stupid, and didn't need her eleven year old sister laughing at her.
"Jason," Marian answered, looking away embarrassed.
"Jason? Isn't he like that rich kid a few houses down?"
"Y-yeah,"
"So why are you writing to him?" All of a sudden, the situation finally hit her and she let out a big, "OHHH" followed by, "BORING!"
"What?"
"Can't we do something fun instead of your weird teenage things? You know you'll never give that to him,"
"Hey!" Marian said, throwing a pillow at Joy. The younger sister chuckled, "seriously though, can't we just play outside?"
"Don't feel like it."
"Come on! Besides, I thought you didn't like Jason. He's friends with Tyler remember? Isn't Tyler the one that always teases you?" Marian's face flushed, how did Joy know so much about her personal life? That's right, she thought, she's the only one I talk to. She mumbled, "That's Tyler..."
"Fine, do whatever, I'll just go to one of my friend's houses," Joy responded while leaving the room and shutting the door.
A few hours later, Marian followed Joy's foot steps outside. There Jason was, across the street, playing basketball with you-know-who Tyler. Her heart began pounding. She couldn't do it. Right as she was about to turn back around, she heard Tyler say, "Hey, man, I gotta go. Rikki just texted me." Jason frowned, "What does your sister need this time?"
"Like I know, anyways, see ya!" He waved good bye and left.
Now's my chance! Legs wobbling, she tiptoed towards Jason.
"Umm..."
"Huh?" He turned around to see the brunette. It's Marry - Anne, he told himself. There was an awkward moment of silence between them before she nearly shouted, "Hi, my name's Shy!"
"Hi shy,"
No, not Shy, Marian, Marian! Gosh I'm such an idiot!
"U-um, y-you haven't seen my sister around here, h-have you?"
"That puffy pink hair girl? Nah,"
"Oh, okay." With that, Marian nervously ran away, never to be able to sleep again for the rest of her fourteen year old life. Joy was right, she'd never be able to give him that pathetic letter.
