Chapter 16

**Roger's POV**
Its been almost a month since I had really talked to Rena. To be honest I really was in love with her, I was thankful to have her for a little while but she never loved me back and the fact Pete and her.....well never mind about that. I was foolish to keep on going for her when I was unable to actually get her. I couldn't go on like this I needed her and I was so desperate, no girl could satisfy me because every girl was the same but Rena was different, she was herself. I sound like a broken record I know but how could I get over her? I could never stop.
I visited Pete's house to go over a new song Pete had written called 'Happy Jack' but really I was there to see what was up with Rena sense I hadn't seen her in a while.
'Ding dong' I ran the door bell once
In a matter of seconds the knob rattled and out poked out Pete with bags underneath his sunken eyes.
"What's with you? you look horrible" I remarked in shock
Pete shrugged as he invited me in with a strange expression. I couldn't describe him for his face made me quite curious.
"Just some surprising news, alright so Happy Jack correct?" He tried so hard to change the subject but I knew how to get it out of him
"Yeah" I smiled pulling out the folded lyrics from pocket
He nodded as he quickly fetched his guitar from the corner
"So you sing it with the chords like" he paused starting to strum the tune
"Happy Jack wasn't tall but he was man"
Pete made a drum type of sounds every now and then that he claimed would be the important part of the song
" He lived at the sands in the isle-"
"Pete?" A sweet voice called from the doorway of the living room
Pete and I looked up at the most beautiful girl (in my opinion) in the world.
Her eyes met mine for slight second until they melted down to the ground
Pete stood up as he set his guitar down with a smile "yes, love"
Rena smiled back shyly at him "Kit is on the phone"
Pete nodded "it must be about the new album he wants me to work on" he mumbled to himself as he made his way into the kitchen
Rena and I were now alone with her leaning on the door frame and me slumped into the couch. Rena herself didn't look well either, her face was pale and she had also looked extremely exhausted.
I couldn't help but ask why she seemed so tired or sick.
"What's wrong Rena?, you look terrible" I asked with concern
Rena looked around anxiously before responding "I'm just sick.......with the flu"
I studied her, I could tell she was lying by the way she avoided serious eye contact with me. Knowing her I knew how she was.
"You sure?" I wanted to make sure even though I knew she was lying
"Yes Roger" she snapped
I licked my lips nodding my head letting her calm down "I'm sorry"
