You would think that having an average "suburban" life as they say would be great, that it's the best way to live "the American dream". I on the other hand believe otherwise. My family consist of quiet dinners, conversation's about the weather, and overly happy parents, sounds fun right? My mom and dad have always seen me as the odd one out of the family, in other words the only one who won't succeed in life and will most likely be earning minimum wage at a greasy fast-food restaurant living with them at the age of twenty five. But you see I believe completely opposite of that, I think I'm the only one in this family with an actual brain and sense of emotion everyone in this goddamn town act like exaggeratingly generous superficial zombies. For example Mrs. Hendrickson our neighbor across the street greets every new mover with a basket of muffins smiling from ear to ear trying to figure out as much about them so she can dish about them at her "book club", which takes place at my house and the entire two hours isn't woman giggling over a chapter from 'fifty shades of grey' its pure gossip about the new neighbors and man can they be cruel. A couple months back a Latina family moved into the house next to Mrs. Hendrickson, of course she brought the muffins and a plastic smile making them believe she was the angle of the community. I overheard her at the 'book club' with all the other housewives saying that those Latino's were probably immigrants or living off food stamps all because they drove a 2001 ford expedition rather than a Porsche or a BMW. I've never understood them and why my mother was part of it, but honesty I had better things to do with my life such as watching Netflix or reruns of ancient aliens alone in my room until I pass out with a half-eaten Twinkie on my chest. My life was as dull and boring as a documentary on how erasers were made, other than the occasional fights with my seventeen year old sister Vanessa over who had the last bowl of cereal. Everything was so basic in modern day suburbia, until the invasion.
