She's strange.
In the beginning, Dominic Russel knew nothing about the redhead girl he saw at the mall. He assumed she was just another shopper what with her many bags. Just another girl whom he couldn't approach because of his girlfriend, Jenna.
The more he shopped with said girlfriend, the more he noticed her around. She used to have a lot of shopping bags, but those slowly shrunk down to one. What did she do with all of them? Without thinking, he led Jenna to the same stores she went into.
The redhead didn't stop to look at the clothes or shoes; she went straight to the counter with her one bag. There, she handed the plastic to the boy standing on the other side. He smiled and brought out the contents inside. A red container and a blue coffee cup. She brought him food?
Leaning against the counter, she tilted her head to the side. His lips moved as he said something; she laughed. What were they talking about?
A hand waved in front of his face. Smaller than his in size, nails perfectly manicured with pink pain. He looked down. Jenna was staring up at him with slight confusion; she had some clothes in her arms.
"What?"
She slightly raised the clothes up. "I'm ready to pay."
"Already?" He glanced at the counter. The redhead was still talking to the cashier. "Don't you have to try them on?"
"I already did." Her voice came out sternly, meaning that she was ready to pay and go home; her feet were probably killing her.
Biting his lip, Dominic glanced at the counter once more. They were still talking. What was there to talk about? She dropped off whatever was in the container. That had to be enough. Then again, the boy appeared to be her age. Maybe they were dating? Dominic felt slightly jealous. Jenna would never go as far as to bring him something while he was at work, let alone go visit.
The redhead stepped aside to make room for Jenna and her clothes; that put an end to their conversation for a brief moment. Dominic went to join them.
He crossed his arms and pressed his hip against the counter; he stared at the red container from the corner of his eye. What was inside? One by one, Jenna's items were scanned. The price slowly increased until they reached thirty-two dollars with taxes.
"You got money or what?"
Dominic's head snapped up. The redhead was watching him, perched on the counter with a leg crossed over the other. Did she caught him staring at the container?
Her attention shifted to Jenna. "Your boyfriend is kinda slow."
The other girl nodded. "Yup." She gave him a glare. "He can be at times. Dom, I'm kinda short on cash?"
He knew what she was asking, and he didn't want to help her. She already owed him a lot of money. Instead of saying anything, Dominic pulled out his phone.
Jenna groaned. "You're no help, Dom. Take out the jacket."
The boy removed the article of clothing. "That will be twenty-five dollars."
She handed him the money and grabbed her bag. Aftet receiving her change, she dragged Dominic to the door. He was not going to hear the end of it.
"Have a nice day!"
He looked over his shoulder to see the redhead waving goodbye, a smile on her lips. The boy behind the counter was lucky to have her.
The ride back home was a pain. Jenna went on how Dominic made her look like an idiot in front of the other two when he very well had money to which he countered that she didn't need the jacket and she should start carrying her own money. By the time he reached Jenna's block, he was about ready to break up with her right there and then, but she said goodbye, so he wasn't able to. Maybe he'd do it another day. Then he'd be freed from her constant complaints and jealousy. Honestly, what did he see in her?
