I see their faces crystal clear, smiling, laughing, unaware of what was coming next. But I did. The image transforms. Screams piercing through the air as a huge creature smashes in to our home, wrecking it, throwing furniture everywhere. Glass smashes all over the floor. The woman turns around."Alexis, RUN!" she screams, pushing me further away from the monster and the destruction it caused. For some reason I'm unable to move, my eyes wide open staring at this thing that has just torn into our lives."Go honey, we're going to be okay. We'll be right behind you" Says the old rugged man. But he was lying, and he knew it. Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion. The dining table, the bookcase just flying all over the place and all I could do was stand there as the monster lifted his clawed hand and swung it in one swift movement. His claws dragging through the woman's throat, pieces of flesh ripping and blood splattering, painting every surface it landed on, including my face. The woman falls to her knees then flat on her face, a pool of blood gathering around her body. My brain doesn't register what just happened and when it does something comes over me. A deafening scream escapes my mouth. The noise focuses the monsters attention on me and for the second – and last time – the humongous creature lifts his arm. I close my eyes ready for the blow, Ready to join her, ready to die. But it doesn't come. I open my eyes to find the man standing in front of me, facing me, a huge gash in the side of his body. Blood spills out from the side of his mouth as he utters his last word."Run!" and just like that he crumples on to the floor. The utter heartbreak over takes me as I drop down next to him and shout over and over again."NO! NO!" I yell through my tears, "I can't lose both of you, please wake up!" My voice was coarse. Then something takes over me. Something inside me unleashes and everything I feel explodes out of me. A rage of anger, waves of sadness flow around me. Emotions overcome me as I stand up and face the monster. I extend my right arm, hoping to find something sharp when something flies into my hand. I look down and see a long blade clutched in my fists. I look back at the monster and charge towards it, letting my anger control me. Energy flows around my body. As I get to the monster I jump and close my eyes as I bring the blade down allowing it to tear through the monsters chest and insert it into its heart.
