Feelings
“Ingrid!” Ryder happily called. “Where have you been?! I’ve been waiting for you!”
Ingrid’s heart almost jumped out of her chest. After all, it is Ryder who calls her. It is Ryder who told her that he’s been waiting for her. “Ju– just around. Why are you waiting?” Ingrid stuttered.
“I have great news for you!” Ingrid smiled, because it is clearly shown that Ryder is happy. And whenever he is happy, Ingrid couldn’t help but beam because she knows that the love of her life is happy.
“What is it?” She asked.
To her surprise, Ryder pulled her into a crushing embrace. Ingrid’s face instantly reddened, mainly because it is Ryder hugging her. “I’m in love, Ingrid! I’m in love!” Ryder shouted while spinning her into the air.
Ingrid stiffened. It was like she was suddenly pushed and buried into the ground, deeper, deeper, deeper, until she just couldn’t breathe anymore.
Ryder felt her reaction. He dropped her at once, showing her his beautiful and perfect face. “Hey, Ingrid, are you okay? You look pale!” he said, worried for his best friend.
As much as she might want it, she couldn’t utter a single word. It feels like her heart was thrown carelessly into a raging tractor, and it was ran over a billion times.
“Ingrid? Come on! You’re scaring me!” Ryder snapped in front of her. “What’s happening to you?”
It took a lot of energy just to shake her head. “No– nothing.” She whispered. “Uh, Ryder, I forgot my homework at home, I think I’ll just catch up with you later.” After saying that, she quickly sprinted away from Ryder who was left alone with wonder evident on his perfectly sculpted face.

Ingrid feels lost. She’s running in circles while crying, trying to rack her brain for a person to cry to. To her disappointment, she found no one. No one. She doesn’t have any other friends besides Ryder.
Ryder.
Ingrid’s tears welled up. Again. For the nth time.
Ryder was always there for her. He saved her from ruining herself with depression because she believed that she had killed her parents. She could vividly remember that day, when it was raining so hard and suddenly two police officers knocked on their door to inform her about the tragic news.
Ingrid was alone. She doesn’t let anyone near her, because she fears that if she let another person care and love her, they’d die, too. Ingrid was afraid.
But Ryder came in the picture. He had been so patient with her. Ingrid pushed Ryder away, but the more she pushes, the more he pulls. Until one day, Ingrid woke up and she found herself looking forward for Ryder’s visit in the afternoon.
Ryder is in love, and she is in love with Ryder.
But Ryder is not in love with her.
Ingrid couldn’t stop crying. She cried some more when she realized that she has nowhere to run to. She only has Ryder, and now Ryder is leaving her, too.
Ingrid’s feet brought her to the park. She sat at one of the benches, and the rain started to pour. She gently traced the cold space next to her.
I used to come here with Ryder. He would always buy me an ice cream, or a cotton candy. Ingrid is still crying. She cannot believe how miserable she is now that he told her that he’s in love. What more would happen to her if he has a girlfriend?
