I was working late one night at a little corner shop, and it was my job to close up.

I was the only one there, everyone else had left a couple of hours before. I'm just casually arranging things on the shelves, it's 10:30 pm and the store shut half an hour ago.

I make my way around the front of the aisle I'm arranging, my back turned to the door, and start arranging the shelves there.

I nearly jump out of my skin when I hear a knock at the door, I wasn't expecting it.

The store's shut, and the times are on the door, so they must know the store was shut.

I turn around to see a tall girl and a shorter boy. I'm guessing they're teenagers, and they're both wearing hoodies with the hoods up, looking down so I can't quite see their faces. They've already seen me, so I can't pretend I'm not there.

"The store's shut." I call to them through the door.

"Please," the girl says, "we're lost and we need to use you phone to call our parents."

She doesn't sound too desperate, and I get a kind of odd feeling about them, like they're lying.

"I'm sorry," I say, "but I'm not supposed to let anyone in, the store's shut."

"But we don't have mobiles! If you don't let us use your phone, then what are we supposed to do?" The girl replied, sounding more urgent than before.

That's odd I thought. There aren't many teenagers these days without phones, her story just didn't add up to me.

"Let us in." She commanded. That last sentence was extremely creepy, but what happened next has haunted my nightmares ever since.

They began to bang on the door, moaning for me to let them in.

It gets worse.

The sense of fear and extreme danger I'd had since they showed up heightened as my stomach plummeted at the sight. They had now lifted their heads up, revealing ghostly pale faces and pitch black eyes.

I kid you not, their eyes were as black as black could be, and not just their irises, the whole thing. Even the whites of their eyes were black.

I felt like I was trapped in a horror movie, and after being scared outta my mind, I threatened to call the police.

They kept banging until I got the phone and dialled 999. Then, they sighed before walking away into the night.

I was told there had been many cases like this, and there was nothing the police could do about it.

After doing some internet research, I discovered that these creeps have become famous as the Black Eyed Kids.

They're usually in between the ages of about ten and sixteen, and will try to infiltrate places where people are alone, claiming that they need to use your phone. Lots of people also described a foreboding sense of unexplained fear during their encounters.

I just got even more scared, as the encounters were much like mine, and I hope I'll never run into any more people with black eyes ever again.

Just be careful whenever you're alone, and most certainly do not let these freaks into your house. Some people probably have, but I don't dare think why their stories aren't on the internet.
